Does anyone know who has an enhancement to allow serial numbers beyond 15 characters? Is there even one available? I didn't see anything on the DSD site. This would be for a new install of v4.5, so if it was it's probably not updated yet anyway.

I don't know if there is such an enhancement but can't Lot/Serial now support UDF fields ?

I can't find one either, but yes it can support UDF's. That would handle it, but the issue is still what to use for the primary serial number. They are not a mfg, so the items arriving already have the sn created. They would have to put something in that field at time of receipt. If you used the first 15 chars of the 18 digit string they need, duplicates would be a problem. You could potentially use the last 15 chars of the 18 digit string and chance of duplicates would be decreased, but they want to scan the barcode at receipt. Not all sn are 18 chars, so programming the scanner to truncate chars is not an option.

Sadly, Sage blows another chance to improve the product. Perhaps it will come out in V5.0 next fall...............

IMHO with respect to MFG/JC - if the functionality isn't there or isn't extremely minor you likely will never see it. Be realistic - if we've been asking for the last xx years? ....

Call me naive, but I thought that once we went to the new BF, expanding field lengths was going to be a lot easier...........

Part of the problem is that there are still non BF modules that are touching some of those fields.
