Does anyone know of a way to have Sales Order entry automatically backorder items that are not on hand? My client is upgrading from 4.05 and swears it works that way in the old version but in 4.4, you have to actually click the radio button. I haven't tested 4.05 but that does sound familiar...

Maybe with an Ext Sol. It doesn't sound like standard MAS 90/200.

I don't recall this being part of v4.05 either. However it would be pretty easy to write a script to do this.

Used to be part of Sales Order Defaults ExtSol. DSD has a SO Defaults Enhancement SO-1532, maybe it is in there. Maybe scripting?

Automatically??? Love that word!!!! Do they mean that if the order quantity was less than the on hand balance, a window would pop up giving you the option to backorder? I believe this is a security setting to display the on hand quantity during order entry.

I wish everything was automatic. :-). They want the quantity ordered to automatically populate to the quantity backordered field if there isn't enough on hand. Right now the box pops up, but they have to manually choose ""backorder quantity"" from the four or so options.

Kate, yes that is possible, you want to turn off the quantity checking in S/O first of all. Second, you want to turn OFF the setting in Role Maintenance for ""allow to exceed qty on hand"" on tab #3.
