Does anyone know if members of the Sage Accountant

Does anyone know if members of the Sage Accountant Network (SAN) get the 100cloud version as part of their membership? I called SAN and they said no but the lady didn't sound like she knew what she was talking about (surprise !!). I have a CPA firm wanting to upgrade and I want to be sure they know what they are upgrading to. Thx

I have not gotten much info on that. I do think they get unlimited payroll subscriptions, though, This is the email I write to for what it's worth. AccountantsNetwork@go.na.sage.com

WHAT? You ACTUALLY talked to someone at SAN??? OMG. But then again, she didn't know what she was talking about........ Sad. I finally signed up a CPA firm last year (only took four months). I have to BELIEVE that they get the C version. If they are given perpetual, how in the world is Sage going to lock them out when they don't come up with their annual pound of flesh??? If it helps any, last year, Ed Kless was responsible for this department. He may still be. Might be worth sending him an email to find out the responsible adult in the department now. BTW, if the firm want PR DD, they have to pay extra. PS - If you haven't checked, take a look at Sage Sell. It has lots of info!!!!

I have a SAN customer. They can use the modern screens, but the 100cloud features don't work.

Jennifer Warawa is the Executive VP - Partners, Accountants & Alliances. I'm sure if there is anyone who works on the details, they ultimately work for Jennifer. Thomas Casey is the Senior Accountant Advocate, Sage Accountant Solutions, so he is probably the person who can direct you, if he does not know. His numbers are: Office: 571-612-6076 | Mobile: 434-282-4271

I logged into the CPA firms account on the partner portal. Their registration numbers are the same as the 2015 version they are on now. My guess is they don't get 100c. I did speak to the same lady again and she said they would need to buy if they really want it.

I'm going to guess without any real statistics that a majority of CPAs and CPA firms consider QuickBooks to be a pretty cool piece of accounting software. I know most of them in my firm think that, which is embarrassing. They don't care if it has holes in its controls and there are many stories about making it easier to embezzle - more billable hours for them. For Sage to make those few that are still in the SAN program actually buy the latest version that all of those current on subscription should be using, it doesn't encourage the CPAs to tell their clients about Sage 100/100c/100cloud . . . The SAN program is nowhere near what it used to be, when Sage considered CPAs to be one of their largest referral groups. This is Jennifer Warawa's and Julie Carman's responsibility - ""Global Strategic Alliances for Accountants"". Perhaps Sage has conceded the market to QuickBooks in the US. That's sad.

Honestly, I was wondering why this CPA firm is still using Sage100. I almost told them to switch to QB and make life easy for themselves. They use Financials only and there is NOTHING in Sage100 that is better for them than QB.

I just did an hour webinar today on what's better about Sage 100. :-D I guess it depends on how simple your needs are or how tolerant you are of bending to the will of the system rather than submitting it to your will. I'm sure if their customer's use QB, CPA's might find it awfully convenient to use the same, though.

@RhondaMcNamara I'm not a QB user myself so i can't really judge, however I have had several clients that were on Sage100 (Financial modules only) switch to QB and called to tell me how much easier it is. One Payroll user was so happy with QB Payroll, he tried to convince me to stop selling Sage and come over to QB. Apparently it really makes life easier for the user. I'm sure when it comes to Distribution, Manufacturing and the like, it's not as clear cut.

^^ That's the secret. Sage 100 is really for the 5+ user growing wholesale / distribution market. Will it play in other markets? Yes. Is it as strong there? No. Virtually 100% of my customer defections are to something like QB or to a different industry niche software (construction, NFP, etc). Companies in Sage 100's core market of wholesale distribution are much less likely to leave unless they are growing really fast.

And by the way, still no email response or call back as to why SAN members do not get 100c. Maybe Sage doesn't want CPA's recommending the latest and the greatest to their clients.

It's more likely that only one or two people internally know what version SAN members get.

Probably only one or two people know what a SAN is. Snarky side showing, sorry!

Exactly a month later, I get a response from SAN....SAN members do NOT get 100cloud, they need to buy it like a regular user. When I emailed back and asked, what's the logic in that decision since Sage is aggressively pushing 100cloud you would want the CPA's to recommend that version to their customers? The response...""We have forwarded your email to our VP since we are all wondering the same"". I told them that while they were thinking about it the CPA has decided to switch to QuickBooks. They wanted to integrate paying Bills with AP Automation (can only be done on 100c) and QB offered several different ways to accomplish that. Now they are members of the QB CPA Network (or whatever it is called).

I wonder the same thing about this current promo. While it's hard to tell the promo appears to allow people to come back on Sage 100 (vs Sage 100cloud). Why would they bring them back onto perpetual if 100cloud if the way forward? And if it's not to bring them back to perpetual, exactly what fees are being waived since the price list for 100cloud no longer has upfront fees?

Took a while but I finally got a definitive answer. The only explanation I have is that Sage might be doing away with SAN otherwise it makes no sense. Hi Kenny, Unfortunately, we have received a final answer from Sage regarding your customers SAN relationship, they are unable to migrate the existing SAN account to the 100C version of Sage due to internal decisions not to migrate the Sage Accountant Network of partners. I expressed your frustrations as a Partner, as well as ours as a cloud based ISV, and the SAN clients, that this is an unacceptable outcome in the current climate of Sage's push to move all customers to the cloud based network, except this small but important marketing group of SANs. I apologize we could not reach a different outcome. They still have the choice of purchasing Sage 100c direct from you at this point and then they will move forward as a regular client.

Wonder if they allow migration to Sage Business Cloud. Sage just did a big dog and pony show at Accountex Boston rolling out a new type of SAN. Seems to focus more on educating CPAS.
