Does anyone know how to add a new form size in Windows 7? Yes, I have a client who still uses continuous feed checks. This was the old KB. https://partners.sagenorthamerica.com/irj/go/km/docs/sageKM/Sage%20MAS%2090%20and%20200/Gated%20Customers/Warr_Svc_Support%20Plan/481000.html 110-481000 - How to print AP checks less than 11 inches long to a dot-matrix printer using Crystal Reports

    Sadly, that link is dead......

It's not if you're logged in (which is why I copied the heading as well).

It is done it a similar manner except you go to printer server properties.

That's right Jim. Therese just select the printer first then you can get to server properties.

Or if the printer is just attached to the workstation, you should be able to set up a form via printing preferences.

Yeah I figured it out... Thanks all!

And thanks for the great tip regarding KB article access. Worked like a charm once I located my access information. Amazing how quickly you forget that stuff when you rely on Sage to hand feed you.

So the printer isn't printing and she types, ""Maybe it should be on a virtual port like my brother."" I had to say, ""You have a sibling on a virtual port???

Maybe she meant port like the wine?

Jeff or Therese, could you share the URL for the old access information? I got lazy a long time ago and simply used sagemas.com since it was easy to remember. I have the shortcut to the KB search page but can't get to a login screen. Thanks!

The old site will let you search but I think it's hit or miss as to whether you can open anything on it. The link I included was for the AtLess( than desired) portal....

Gene, at some point, we're going to have to suck it up and bite the bullet. I've been dreading this day for a very long time. My work around was just to let Sage employees do the work, but I suppose I should take a look and see how bad things really are. Worse case scenario is that I'll crawl back under my rock for another six months.....

Oh, I use Atlas and actually have reasonable success finding things. But my first stop has been, up to last week, the old KB. I had the impression from Therese's post she had a way into the old KB.

Thanks Therese. I have been using that link for a long time. As I said in my prior post I thought you had a login for the old KB (which your link points to) that magically made the old KB still work. Like everyone else here, I started getting the endlessly spinning search icon with a blank screen in the past week or so.

I found the old site useful even though it no longer would pull up the article. It often gave me enough info to get the article through Atlas (if it was there). This morning I can not even open an infosource session.

Mine did too after about 5 minutes. Probably on my end. I sure hope it stays up for a while. I still have difficulties getting the right hits on Atlas. It even counts the number of X's in XXXXX and it it doesn't get an exact match, then no results. When I search with info source, I hover over the link I am interested in and get the conceptid. Then I put the conceptid in the Old KB ID field in Atlas and if it's there, it pops right up.

Fighting this on a Epson LQ-570E. Followed the instructions above. Created the custom paper size. Selected in in Crystal. IBM Proprinter using the custom form size. Tried w/ no printer selected inside the crystal form and with printer. When form prints, the very first thing that prints is a code @2. Then in prints stub info, but too much header margin (about .25, but set it to .001 in Page Setup in Crystal form). The actual check info prints into the next stub. Then the next check prints such that the pitch between the stub info on the first check and the same place on the 2nd check is about 15"". Help.

Try a different printer emulation. So have you explained to the client that by the time you get this working for them, that your bill will be more than the cost of a new laser printer AND single sheet checks? Ran into this several years back. Client didn't want to ""waste"" the checks. I had a similar issue with XP WS with and Epson printer and the IBM proprinter driver. It worked great (but very slow) running the epson driver but behaved badly (but printed fast) using the proprinter driver. Client ended up buying single sheet checks and paid me $500 for my time to boot. Can't say she wasn't warned!!!!!!!

@JeffSchwenk, did that after kicking it around for a while. He agreed. Whew!

This is part of a 3.71 upgrade to 4.5, for which they are payiing handsomely (and fairly!).

Oh, a LOT of old habits to break and reform. Very challenging getting the end user to think differently. If they listen to you and implement your ideas, their ROI payback will be measured in months.

So I've performed all the required/documented steps, just like I've successfully done in the past for other clients, but still it keeps printing as if the stock is 11"" long. This is an Oki 320. The only one thing I know I haven't done is specifically use 'IBM Proprinter' as the driver, but I did try a number of other ones incl ""Generic/Text"" - and I don't quite recall using 'IBM Proprinter' in the past, but it's certainly possible I have. Should I really try the IBM Pro? Any thoughts besides just suggesting the client suck up the cost of not being able to use up their 8.5"" x 7"" dot-matrix pin-fed Check stock?

Sorry @BrettZimmerman but it's been so long since I did this, the customer is now on laser checks and NOT on continuous feed!! I can't remember if I changed the driver or not. I don't think so. Seriously, pose the question - ""How important is it for you to use your existing check stock?

I recall that I had to use a different printer driver to make the form changes stick @BrettZimmerman, not sure if it was the IBM Proprinter. From a quick Google: ""If it (form size) does not appear, then the driver is unable to recognize it because it it too large or too small to be printed by the printer.

I did a lot of this in days gone by and I seem to recall the the printer itself had an emulation mode that needed to match the windows driver for things to work correctly... Copied this out of the manual for Oki 320 - Changing Emulations The ML320/321 E/I printers are set at the factory for the IBM Proprinter emulation. To change to the Epson FX emulation, press the MODE button to enter the Menu mode. Press the GROUP button until General Control Emulation Mode IBM PPRprints. Press the SET button to change the setting to Epson FXe. Exit the Menu mode and save your setting by pressing the MODE button

Well I didn't have any luck getting the OKI 320 to interpret the 8.5"" x 7"" page size correctly. But I did put a little spin on it by suggesting he purchase blank check stock (and use micr) for his multiple companies. I had some trouble locating an IBM Proprinter driver that I felt was trustworthy, and changing to Epson Fx emulation didn't help. Fyi, on this particular printer I had to do SHIFT & SEL to enter Menu Mode.
