Does anyone know how the ""Next Serial Number"" thing works re PO ROG? Have a client who had a format of 123456-123 as the Next Serial Number in Item Maintenance (4.5.2). HOWEVER, this latest receipt was using serial numbers of format 123456-12. They would click on the Add Serial Number icon in PO ROG and it would show them the next serial number. They would change it. The system would then create serial numbers in the 123456-123 format, even though they had typed in 123456-12. So, while it's a PIA, I still figured if we changed it in Item Maintenance (hopefully just for this item) then all would be swell. But no. Even though the Item now said 123456-12 AND it said 123456-12 when it came up in Add Serial Number, it still exploded the new serial numbers as 123456-123. WTF? Where would it be getting the old format from? I tested on my 4.5 and the exact same thing happened. I looked at the file layouts for PO_OrderDetail and PO_ReceiptDetail and neither had a field for Next Serial Number, so it wasn't getting stored in there. Anyone have any experience with this?

Yes we have a similar issue that Sage is looking into ROG adding serial number is not generating the correct number. For example receiving 5 of item G-MD750 with a starting serial number of A1B22 generates serial numbers A1B222 A1B225. This has been happening since some of the later updates to version 4.4. Sage is working on a fix to include in SU3. This happens in IM transaction receipt entries also.

@AaronClarkCPACITP created a VI job to import serialize items into ROG from an excel spreadsheet for our client to get them by until the fix is released. Not sure how they created the spreadsheet but it was easier than entering 1000's of serial numbers manually.
