Does anyone here seek out and actively use their S

Does anyone here seek out and actively use their Sage representatives on sales calls? I never have as I guess I'm too much of a control freak and don't want someone else's agenda and style to be interfering with my approach. Another factor is that I don't feel that the Sage reps are going to be any better at sales than I am - maybe if I thought they were sales geniuses, I would want them along to learn from them. But I often hear about others who bring Sage in on a lot of deals. I often wonder what am I missing?

Again, way back when, when we had a rep we actually liked, he always offered to assist or to give a personal call from Sage to prospects but I don't now.

But ... what did you get from that personal call or assistance? I guess the real question is: what did the prospect get or feel that helped move them along in the sales process?

I said he offered; I didn't say we always accepted! ;) His theory was, it might be nice for a prospect to hear an actual person from Sage in addition to us, especially if the sale is close but doesn't seem to be moving along. I wouldn't trust Sage with that now.

What you get from any vendor salesperson???? ""We can drop our drawers if you can close by the end of the quarter"" That's the sum total of their contribution based on my 20 years of experience in this business

I should add, we have used Debbie Hill for add-on demos and when Lisa Quake was our CAM, she would sit in. She loved us and would always do a nice job of talking us up. I think it's nice for a prospect or an existing customer to know that our contacts at Sage think highly of us as their partner. (That last sentence makes me want to cry....)

Alyssa (who as I pointed out in the discussion below is now gone) always was happy to attend my demos. She met the client, spent 2-3 minutes max talking about Sage, and then it was showtime for me without interruption. 75% of those clients closed when she was there. I tend to think it was because it was her, but that's a great track record.

I used to use Sage sales representatives and account managers as a way to get customers to think that Sage really cared about them. I only did it with Sage representatives that really new the products they were selling and represented us well. I haven't done it in years then.

    What's a sales call?

My sales representative is still trying to place an order/quote that I asked for a couple days ago. I am not sure how I could actually use her to help move a deal along. She gave me the extra margin I requested (but failed to pass along to the client) last month to close a deal. She will become useful once again next September when they give things away to close deals for N.A.'s year end!!!!!!!
