Does anyone have tips for importing into Inventory Transaction Entry as an Adjustment with FIFO tiers? v4.5 Sage 100 ERP

I think MAS will automatically take care of the tiers, as it would if you entered the transactions directly.

@MarkKotyla yes it should, but I just ran into an issue in 2013 where I got an error (Only on FIFO items) importing positive adjustments. I just switched it to a receipt instead and it added the tiers properly.

When I run a test - no errors are found. When I run the import - I get error 'HS Record Invaild or Write Failed. Line number 1 has not been distributed'.

@AmyHattensty that's exactly what I got. I was entering starting quantities for a new install, so I made all my transactions receipts instead of adjustments and it worked fine.

I noticed that when you enter a positive adjustment, it prompts for the date of which cost layer you're adjusting. That's why you're getting the error.

You could probably feed that as part of the import but it wasn't worth extra time and effort for me.

All my adjustments are negative - it also prompts for the date of the cost tier. I am in the red zone for getting this done. I will try to import at receipts with negative numbers? Brett is that correct?

No, you need to supply existing tier dates so that Mas can reduce those tiers.

So instead of doing adjustments, could you do issues for the negative adjustments?

@AaronClark won't issues need to know which tier to reduce, also?

Great question, @BrettLyder. In the UI, it doesn't ask for that, but I don't know what VI would do.

Thank you for all the GREAT responses!! I just tested importing as issue - it doesn't ask the tier - and I can't import as receipts with a negative number - the client is starting to enter the adjustments manually for now until I can get this ressolved :(

What am I missing? It sounds like Aaron's suggestion to use issues should work then. Do you want/need to specify the tier date? If so, do you have them in your source file?

An issue would hit COGS - so I guess a JE would need to be made every time? Did anyone ever figure out if a negative adj can just be set to take the first tier (FIFO) for FIFO items? Just had this come up.

Any further info here? As far as I can tell, even if you assign a FIFO tier at time of entry, it won't let you enter a negative qty if enough qty doesn't already exist in the tier.
