Does anyone have customers in the floor covering installation industry? They install flooring for new, residential construction and they install all types of flooring (carpet, hardwood, tile, laminate, etc.) I've been talking with some folks who would like for Sage 100 to calculate PO quantities for materials based on room dimensions. Currently, they are doing this manually and keying the quantities into QB. Also, they are asking about the ability to generate work tickets for the installers. Anything is better than the 3x5 index cards they're using now.

Not floor covering, but for a steel distributor I have used UDFs and scripting to allow for dimensions and hundredweight qty and pricing to co-exist. Something similar should cover your issue. For ""work orders"", would a customized sales order or picking sheet form work? Or this could be a JobOps if they want actual linked work tickets.

@PhilMcIntosh, that's what I was thinking as well. I was talking to a buddy of mine whose father owns a flooring company out in Nevada. They've been using Sage 100 for years and love it. They are using Excel for the work tickets since they don't care about them being linked back to Job Cost.

We've got a floor covering company using Sage 100 and Job Cost. They pay commission based on gross profit. JC works well to capture the revenue and cost of the job. SO, PO, IM and PR and integrated with JC. Job Cost is used to print work tickets. Some type of quoting software is used to quote and estimate jobs.
