Does anyone have a solution for a larger PO Purchase Order Number? They are running into repeat numbers and with history turned on, it won't let them use that no again. Thanks !

Why don't they use a new number for the PO but copy from history? Confused.

What about setting the starting number in Options to A000001. Then in another X years, use B000001, etc.

Yes that would work but they are using a buyer code, a seller code and a number and they are telling me that it is repeating. I'm not totally sure how it could and/or I suggested 1- buyer, 4 - number, 1- sp and 7th number be a A-Z if the number is the same . They are saying that can't work. I really just threw it out there in case someone else had a different solution. Thanks @JeffSchwenk and @BethBowers

Sounds like they should upgrade to X3..... Or it might just be easier for them to quit using the PO # for values other than just a number..... Show them how to delete history???

I recommend adding a UDF to represent the Buyer Code and the Seller code. That would give them back their 7-digits for their PO number. When printing those can look like it is a larger PO number, but everyone knows to key in just the 7-digit at the end?

You could use a script to automatically generate numbers of any form where the number portion could be hexi-decimal or straight alpha to allow many times more numbers than numeric in the same number of digits.

I'm with ya @MadelineStefanou but they don't want to do that. @DanBurleson they have a machine (don't ask a really old one) that generates the numbers and then they add the buyer and sales person. They don't want to change but they want to complain. Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm really old too, so tell them we can modify that machine to generate more P/O id's in the same number of digits.
