Does anyone have a recent success story with Website Pipeline they would be willing to share? Any other integrated options that have worked? Client was quoted $26K plus $500/month two years ago. They are finally ready to proceed and price jumped to $38K and $800/month.

We have one client who has had a Website Pipeline website for some time, after trying other options unsuccessfully prior to that. We were not directly involved in the implementation, but the client warned us (for future implementations) to define requirements in detail up front and write these into the agreement. They experienced the same with increasing costs, and felt that they should have stuck to the original quote. The primary reason for selecting Website Pipeline is for the turnkey result. They do the website, the integration and the hosting, and this is great for companies that do not have anyone to seriously work on the website. The overall cost is probably not that out of line when considering what some pay for their websites. If the website is not a concern, then I would normally have the client look at IN-SYNCH, which has the most comprehensive integration in terms of the number of functions within Sage 100 that it integrates. They are also very good at integrations to Amazon.

Is the expectation that the price should go down over time? I fight this battle with my customers all the time who seem to delight in collecting my proposals and then coming back in 1-3 years ""Ready to go"".....at the price they were quoted years ago. Last I checked health insurance in CT was rising at 25%+ a year. Rents, salaries rise annually too. But I guess I can hold that price quote forever.....

My client's price increase was within the project, not 2 years later. I agree about costs going up over time - they do and there should be no realistic expectation that they will stay the same.

Just looking for success stories to make sure dollars are invested wisely with the best solution. Not looking to debate a price increase.

I'll check with the client to see if he considers it to be a success. He never complains about it, and he complains about everything else, so I guess it could be considered a success :-)

Just as a general observation; development of websites, custom solutions, etc, are always difficult to quote. More often than not, customers are unfamiliar with the process and make assumptions that their expectations are ""typical"". It is critical that expectations and the end product are well documented before development begins. Otherwise the hole gets wider and deeper. (Don't get me started on stories of anecdotal evidence.) This isn't a complaint. Customers are inexperienced and should be expected to be able to fully communicate their needs without coaching and assistance. I'm not sure how one can do this without breaking the process down into a multi-phased approach with the first being and needs assessment followed by a design project. This can be a significant undertaking. Often times, the customer expects this to be a part of the sales process and provided for free. With custom work, we never do a development with a design first. Both are paid projects. I strongly suspect that over the time between the first and second proposals, development and transaction volume requirements may have changed.

We have had an excellent experience with them. Been on their website for several years and just did close to a six figure upgrade. The client sees them as a strategic partner. They do not like the fees but the solution works.
