Does anyone have a MAS 200 SQL 4.5 whitepaper that discusses the underlying technology? I have a customer considering a SQL migration largely due to their IT department's failure to backup their systems.... and they're asking about the underlying core technology. Because I am not refunding the money if they make a mis-informed decision I've pretty much advised (based on prior discussions in the group) that MAS 200 SQL won't be faster, won't allow direct manipulation of the SQL tables and really doesn't do much more than check off the ""has SQL db"" item on the evaluation sheet that some companies use. Anyone have additional recent whitepaper about the SQL technology?

Page 7 of the technology white paper gives a paragraph about SQL.

The bigger issue for this customer would likely be the omission of FRX and F9 - both of which they use.

Are these limitations still in place (via a post Dawn made on the Community forums) And don't forget that some financial applications aren't available for SQL: - F9 - FRx - SMI (although I hear this is coming in the future) -- since announced as available The legacy modules not available: - Job Cost - TimeCard - Payroll - Work Order - MRP

SMI was just released, so no that's now available. But the other limitations ARE still a factor.

Myron, according to Sage, it does not.

All it is a database holder - sql in a sense is not being used. The lookups for are extremely slow - my testing was looking for invoices last week and it took 10 min to search throught the AR_invoicehistoryheader to find the data - it was not faster than providex - if you bypass providex and do crystal directly it runs in 1 second!

Johnny, my experience has been that it's not faster than Providex but it's also not as slow as what you're describing.

Its sounds just like the old sql except that one had a few stored procedures
