Does anyone have a good solution for Last Names in Payroll that are longer than the 15 characters allowed? Payroll 2.0 expands last names to 40 characters but client would prefer not to upgrade yet.

Use Addr1. Or ask employee to change their name.

Or try to use any available space in the first name field. Or create a new field to store the full last name.

I have done two things depending on what the client prefers. I *think* I've done this for PR. I know I've done it for new framework modules. 1. Create a new field for full last name. Fill out BOTH original and new field. If there is something in new field, that is the one that gets printed on check. Otherwise , original field. Or 2. Create a new field that is the part of the name that cannot fit. In this case , concatenate the two fields in printing.

Thanks for the input. Since it's only 1 person for now, I may just modify a formula on the check to print the full name. Maybe upgrade to PR 2018 before Tax Reporting is due.

I think once you have one or two PR 2.0 upgrades under your belt, the others will migrate very quickly.
