Does any one know if Sage 100 Advanced is compatible with Windows Direct Access? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd759144.aspx I'm thinking if they use a private IPV4 address it would work just the same as a normal Windows VPN as far as Sage 100 Advanced is concerned. Does anyone have experience with this? Was the roll out successful? Thank you!

Two questions really: 1. Technically possible 2. Advisable I don't have any direct experience though this seems as if it would mostly replace a VPN which would imply some type of straight connection which usually is slow in areas such as Crystal though the slowness can somewhat be overcome with client server Crystal connect.

Hi Chris, Assuming Direct Access is setup correctly, it functions almost identically to a VPN solution. This means IP addressing, routing, etc. has to be 100%. That being said, we typically do not recommend running Sage 100 over any type of VPN due problems with latency, MTU (packet sizes), how network drives handle VPN's (Sage Standard), and the general quality of WAN links. Even if a WAN link was a full 100megs, the overhead from the VPN will drop its throughput. We find a terminal server solution performs much better since any type of disconnect will affect the terminal server session (screen updates only), but not disconnect the MAS client from the server. Best regards, Chris
