Document Management - Anyone have any experience with either Altec or Acom (or others)?

@JimWoodhead is going through a large implementation with Altec and I think @JeffSchwenk has some experience with ACOM as well.

What are your questions?. We have a couple happy clients with Doc-link. We are in the middle of negotiations of a huge multiple site deal. .

Customer asked about it this morning and I haven't used either. Just wanted to know your thoughts.

I have one client on ACOM who is a referenceable source. And for those clients that don't want a full blown document management system, I have a low end system (scanner with a couple scripts) in the $1,000 neigborhood that works well.

What version of MAS are they in? They need to be in v4.4 or v4.5 for Acom to work smoothly.

I don't have any experience with ACOM. Altec starts around 6K. It links into the existing paperless functionality and has workflow and approval processes along with document management. Kevin Dudevoir <kevindudevoir@ALTEC-INC.COM> can probably point to the right person to contact.

They are in the process of upgrading to 4.4. @JeffSchwenk do you have a contact for ACOM?

I would definitely be interested in your opinion @ThereseLogeais after looking at both of them

I've spoken with someone from Altec before but not for a specific prospect. I think I'll contact both of them and see how they operate, etc. I'll let you know @JimWoodhead!

When you call Altec tell them Jim Woodhead recommended you and that you know they spoke at the 90 Minds group conference over the weekend.

We have had experience wth both Acom and Altec. I personally consider Altec a higher end product that seemed to work better with SQL server databases. Acom is not as functional and our implementation was one of their first. Patrick Nguyen is the west coast rep and Tony Brown is east coast. Acom hired Billy Balser who I have worked with for years to add depth in MAS 90 experience to help with implementations. He is excellent. My $0.02. Acom is less expensive and more often a better fit for MAS 90/200 where Altec is definitely better for larger SQL based implementations.

I will be at Altec next Monday for a detailed review of their products. I have not seen the Altec products in detail. Obviously from a sales standpoint they are an Endorsed Partner, so it counts as tier. That's not a good reason if we are being good consultants, but if the packages are equal, it does help. I spent some time about 2 years ago looking at ACOM, and really liked their package, which is less of an investment that Altec.

Does this mean Acom is an Endorsed Partner?? http://cdn.na.sage.com/sagemail/SageMail/ACOM_0212.html

I think the difference is that Altec is purchased thru SAGE and ACOM is purchase from ACOM. . I have send an email off to Altec for their take on the difference between ACOM and Altec's DOC-Link

FYI. Altec's DOC-link is installed and configuired on the lastest MAS 90 4.50 Partner image if you're interested in looking at it. Along with TimeSheets and a bunch of other stuff.

I just received this doc from Altec. #### In addition to what's discussed in the document They also mentioned the following. The basic scan/capture/retrieve functions are somewhat equal but with doc-link you are buying a platform for automation of an entire enterprise. You may start in one area (AP) but with the doc-link tool kit, you can build efficiency through process improvement and reporting anywhere in the business Altec's goal is to help the customer be as self sufficient as they're capable of being. Our advanced tools (Smart Forms Tool Kit and Data Manager Module) are designed to allow customers to make changes/improvements without requiring Altec PSG. I'm told that ACOM does more 'custom' work where we 'configure' ACOM doesn't have anything like our Smart Form Tool Kit
