Do you have a standard list of menu options that you recommend the customer lock users from accessing?

One example that just came up from a customer inquiry is the Vendor Maintenance - Allow Vendor Electronic Payment. The customer didn't want anyone to be able to change the account that a vendor had specified to receive ACH into.

This leads me to wonder if there are more items we should suggest that customers lock down on their Sage security.

If you have such a list, could you share it here?

The two obvious ones are user maintenance and role maintenance. Are there more than you regularly recommend?

PS - v2021 introduced the Role/User Inquiry ( Library Master - Security - Role/User Inquiry ), which is great for seeing what roles have access to what specific menu options.

There are 2 I look at.

Custom Office Security Option - "Allow Customization of Forms via Hot-Key" - I always turn that off.

The other is to not allow them to update from a Preview.

I turn off 'Allow Customization of Forms via Hot-Key' for any role/user who isn't trained in Custom Office.

Here are two more that I suggested - one of them is security related, the other is just to avoid an annoying pop-up.

I convince them they need Paperless Registers/Journals, and turn off in each module ability to Preview and Post.

The big ones for us are removing the ability to post from Preview, and we let the customer decide about auto-updating the DTR.

This one I usually disable as a convenience.

Oh!  And if they are on a TS with Crystal Reports installed, this is an important one:

Here's one that I just ran across - the customer setup their own security internally.

Now that I have found this "Role/User Inquiry," - I like the idea of providing a security audit to customers where we review their setup and make recommendations to tighten up their rights.

For example, many times when customers hire people, if the IT doesn't have access to Sage or know how to set them up, then they'll ask us to do the setup and "give the same rights as xxxx has" without knowing that perhaps xxxx is an administrator level user.

This is also another good reason for customers to be current with Sage as I think the Role/User Inquiry only came into existence beginning with v2021+
