  • 1.  Do WorldShip or StarShip Utilize a Sage 100 User License?

One of my clients just ordered new licenses so that they now have 12 usable (14 total) licenses. They are getting a "User Limit Exceeded" message despite there only being 10 users logged in per the Master Console. When I look in Task Manager on the server and cross-check the PIDs, I found three pvxwin32 process that do not show up in Master Console. Is it possible that StarShip is grabbing user licenses and they are just not showing up in the Master Console? They also have Scanco deployed.

Terminal server?  (You have to copy the updated activate.pvx to the workstation path).

These are individual workstations on the LAN, so I don't think it's the activation key. I believe something is using one or more licenses that I cannot see in the Master Console. I will try rebooting the server tonight and see if that clears whatever it is.

My impression is that StarShip, Business Object Interface, DOES use a single user license; to connect with Sage 100.

Thank you, Madeline. I will keep an eye on it and recommend additional licenses if they keep having issues.

@Kevin Moyes I did not know this.  Or if I knew this, it was forgotten.  :)

Yeah, this is one of those things that I know, but often forgot to do. Now it's just part of my standard work plan whether the client uses a terminal server or not. You have to have local admin rights to the terminal server and run "Change user /install" before and "change user /execute" after you copy the file so it applies across the board to all users.

I got this reply recently from StarShip on the Sage user license

If you are using sage with MIFS then starship will only use one sage user spot but, if you are using sage BOI or sage link then each starship client will use a sage user spot.

@Moira Goggin what does MIFS mean?  I thought the only StarShip options were BOI or Starship Link?  What is that third option, MIFS?
