Do we have a formalized code of conduct anywhere? I know when I used to invite members, I would ""read them the riot act"" for participation, but I don't think we do it on a regular basis. One of the members PM'd me ""An end-user forwarded an email conversation that included an entire Socialcast thread, warts and all"" I think we need to come up with one, post it and I can blast it out to everyone in the group.

Let's make it a Google Doc under FAQ so we don't have to reinvent the wheel I started one here. You will need to login with your 90Minds Gmail or I will have to explicitly add you to the document. I greatly prefer for efficiency that Admin all have 90Minds.com Google accounts which I believe will make this type of sharing much easier. https://docs.google.com/a/community.90minds.com/document/d/19nLZXZEYQRE2rpyo5YgWiGS3JOKd0kbVTK7ielrInkM/edit?usp=sharing

@JeffSchwenk - Was there mention of how the end user had the SC thread? That's odd. If one of my clients had a copy of an SC thread ... who would they get it from if not me?!

Some firms do have multiple members in Socialcast. Plus some customers contact multiple partners.

I think what you're saying is that a member who is receiving updates via email probably forwarded a conversation unedited to a customer/end user?

Instead of speculating ... @JeffSchwenk can you ask for more info?

  • 7.  RE: Do we have a formalized code of conduct anywhere?

    Posted 05-10-2013 08:51
If it's anonymized I have no problem. If it's routine chit-chat I have no problem. If it's member(s) complaining about a vendor or Sage and it's forwarded (without removing identities) to that vendor or Sage then it's membership ending for the member who forwarded it.

Here is the offending e-mail. To me it is a clear violation of our code of conduct! Other thoughts?

This is complete shit. Why in the world would a consultant be so naive as to copy and paste the thread verbatim to a client? Luckily there was nothing too offensive in here but it is a complete violation of common sense - forget about any code of conduct. On a technical note ... do we actually have a code of conduct posted anywhere? Is it something that people sign or agree to when joining 90 Minds? Do we need to create a membership agreement?

We do. We also probably need to let Gary know that one of his people violated the unwritten rules.

This seems to be an innocent mistake. If she had forwarded something in support of an issue like a customer feeling they were not getting value from maintenance or other complaint against Sage then I'd have more of an issue. What I'd like to see is us copy this type info to Everyone and then forward it -- or she could have copied the technical info without names (which is something I might do on a more technical issue). Should be advised not to forward verbatim with names.

Does anyone have a problem with me posting and emailing (I think there is a new push feature) the following: *** IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT *** One of the strengths of this group is that we have free, open discussions about many topics pertaining to our businesses. It's important to realize that these discussions are meant to stay within the group. (You don't talk about Fight Club) If you want to share findings from the group, summarize them before passing them along to your customers, prospects or whoever it is. To be clear: it is not acceptable policy to copy and paste private conversations and share them with customers. Please let us know if there are any questions.

Actually, I am trying figure out how she printed the entire thread..... Did she copy and paste? Innocent or not, this needs to be nipped. I wouldn't doubt that others have done it. Poorly executed. Need to fast track the formalization of the policy. Might be a good project for Threses......

I believe you slept through the section on Greek goddesses. TG I can edit THIS thread but then no one would understand what you are talking about.

BTW, I don't see her membership pic. Does she have to officially accept our invite?

Maybe she isn't in front of the computer. The invite shows as outstanding.

Isn't it in the by-laws that Admin members are on call 24/7??? Certainly NOT a good start!!!!!!

Okay, I am now apparently in! It WAS my birthday yesterday, BTW... Why do you want me to post the protocol? Do you think I am more believable than Peter? I certainly don't pose as much of a threat. I mean, I'm not from Chicago or anything....

It will be your coming out party. Plus you probably have a nicer way of saying things...

  • 27.  RE: Do we have a formalized code of conduct anywhere?

    Posted 05-14-2013 18:50
@ThereseLogeais - If you are going to post that, I recommend that you also email it to all members. It is a sad truth that many members don't stay up-to-date on the SC forums unless they have a particular client issue that they want resolved. Select the broadcast option and there is a checkbox to email all members. Put it in the Business Consulting group (or Sage News and Discussion or ... wherever you like).

Hmm, didn't see that but did see how to email the group. Did anyone receive the email?

That option doesn't appear to be available on the iPad.

  • 32.  RE: Do we have a formalized code of conduct anywhere?

is this where we are going to leave it or do we call Gary and Katrina into the prinicpal's office also. I think we should do that at a minimum. I'll do that if no one else objects....

  • 33.  RE: Do we have a formalized code of conduct anywhere?

    Posted 05-14-2013 19:28
Jeff - I think that makes sense. @ThereseLogeais - you should resend the message with the email option (if you haven't already) because people aren't always dialed in to SC.

You need to be an admin of the group or it social cast. To broadcast

Has anyone sent a note to Katrina. We need to let her know if it happens membership is in jeopardy. Enforcer?

    Posted 05-14-2013 19:33
@JeffSchwenk are you going to contact Katrina?

  • 40.  RE: Do we have a formalized code of conduct anywhere?

Since I have the originial e-mail, I'll send the note about our Vegas rules to her and Gary and copy the gang of seven.

  • 41.  RE: Do we have a formalized code of conduct anywhere?

    Posted 05-14-2013 19:36
I agree that Jeff should reach out to her but - in all fairness - if we don't have a published code of conduct ... who's at fault here? I would think she showed amazing lack of common sense but there is no rule book to point to in this case.

  • 42.  RE: Do we have a formalized code of conduct anywhere?

    Posted 05-14-2013 19:36
@JeffSchwenk - are you getting @BrianRice in hot water for narc-ing her out by showing the email?

  • 43.  RE: Do we have a formalized code of conduct anywhere?

    Posted 05-14-2013 19:37
I would say the same rules apply. Maybe delete Brian's name?

  • 44.  RE: Do we have a formalized code of conduct anywhere?

    Posted 05-14-2013 19:52
I'll send Brian a note to see how he wants to proceed. Even if I take his name out of the string, it won't take much of a rocket scientist to figure out the origin of this missle.....

  • 45.  RE: Do we have a formalized code of conduct anywhere?

    Posted 05-14-2013 19:55
@PeterWolf - I will not be taking her to the wood shed on this as we have been a bit relaxed on this since the start of OASIS. One of the reasons we have the private 90Minds group. But I will communicate to her that it was over the top (especially since one of the remarks is mine). Then we will move on.

Please contribute to the FAQ which may be reused in the future. If you lockup all collaboration within Socialcast only blame yourself when you are ""locked in"" and have no choice but to keep paying Socialcast ""because all of our data is in there"". Remember this day - because we should be formalizing important FAQ and group notes OUTSIDE SC. Knowledgebase to Evernoet. Plus it is more difficult to find and share these posts (from admin it's nearly impossible) in a month or more. With your xxx.xxx@90minds.com (login first to mail.90minds.com) you should be able to access and edit: http://goo.gl/j92DG

With regards to being locked in to a platform, how is putting our stuff in Evernote different than putting our stuff in Socialcast?

I think the point is searchable and portability.

Would someone like to add me as an admin for the Business of Consulting group so I can broadcast/email the group? I was also thinking there should be some sort of ""rules/guidelines"" sent to members, perhaps with their annual renewal invoice? I just looked at one from @JeffSchwenk and it has a few details (member terms, no refunds, participation, etc.) but nothing about this particular aspect. HOWEVER, I just remembered that this is at the bottom of all SC screens, I believe: Information shared on the Socialcast site should be considered 90 Minds confidential. Please do not forward specific member comments or confidential information outside of our group without removing personally identifiable information of any member(s).
