How do I reply to a question from IT: "I don't understand the theory about needing full control.  Why wouldn't RWXD work just as effectively? "

I think it should which is essentially what I consider 'full control' except for ownership and permissions (tomayto, tomahto)?  Suppose they could just try it and see what happens.

For the reasons @Brett Zimmerman stated, RWXD should be fine.

I think full control provides permission for a user to change who owns the folder(s)? I’m pretty sure I had a good / smart IT tech question it and we went the way Brett suggests.

I did contact Sage about these rights - at the customers insistence - and nobody at Sage really wanted to do much other than point me to the Administrator Guide which has the info in an appendix.

I can say with a level of experience what when I’ve had IT people not believe my explanations I have invited them to call sage and I provide the phone number.

One call is usually all it takes for IT to shake their heads and give up trying to navigate through sage support.

I don’t think Sage is motivated in the least to clear this area up since the customer could just buy Intacct and get ride of this problem.

@Wayne Schulz - While I don't dispute that Sage thinks Intacct is the next best thing to sliced bread, a manufacturing user would likely leave the Sage family entirely.

Sad that they have turned the golden Sage 100 goose into a dairy cow and is milking the product for all its worth.

One day the cow will be gone and all that is left are some dinosaur bones........

    Such a waste
