I have a 130GB company database that's trying to backup to its local ..\MSSQL\Data folder on the source server during migration before restoring to destination server, but there's not enough disk space. IT can't expand the C: drive, migration is ignoring my SQL Database Properties of using the F:/ or G:/ drives for Data, and IT also says they cannot give me a temporary SQL instance on the destination server to use for migration. Is there really no way to use anything other than the C:\Program Files\… for the source backup folder

Have you tried modifying the server's (right-click it and click properties to open the window on the right) backup setting?

I did. I tried a few different settings, restarting SQL services in between each attempt, but the Sage 100 migration keeps using the default SQL "Data" location.

Yes Sage's code ignores the SQL settings.  I think your only option will be Carmen's manual method.

Thanks, Phil. Once I can have some extra space on a server to use for the "source" system and a temporary SQL instance, I should be able to choose between a parallel or manual migration.

Bug.  I posted about it on Sage City here: link

(There is a KB link higher up in the conversation).

It seems to only happen when the data paths are changed after the initial SQL install.

Thanks, Kevin. I wonder why the program fix was not carried forward to all versions then. I will need to report it to Sage so they can get it going for future v2023 and v2024 upgrades.

This can be moved out of Urgent. I have asked IT again to provide a temporary server for a v2021 instance that I will use for migration since they are concerned about expanding the live server.

The Sage bug fix is for where the SQL data files land in the new instance.  I used that thread to also report the issue about the source server paths being wrong... with no response.

Reporting to Sage would be helpful... I'm not sure if they fixed the source server path problem at the same time as the destination server path issues.
