  • 1.  Did You Know? S/O unit price can change when qty is changed, EVEN WHEN NO pricing schedules in place

    Posted 02-13-2026 12:23

So this blew me away yesterday that I wasn't aware of this after X decades.  For an item/customer with no pricing schedules in place, if i change the qty of a S/O Entry line that I've previously overrode the default Standard unit price from Item Maint, the unit price reverts back to Standard.  Found this out via a client who sent out $0 invoices instead of the proper $50k invoices.  The items had no custom pricing and Standard Price in Item Maint was $0, so upon them changing the qty during invoicing, it changed the original manually-entered unit price to $0.

It's been like this at least since v2016.

Yes... changing quantity applies the pricing hierarchy again, because multiple pricing methods can have break-point pricing and Sage doesn't know until running the pricing check.

I seem to remember writing a script (with a UDF or two to hold the original / overridden price) to push back the manually entered value after quantity changes.

It is one of those extremely annoying facts about SO Entry.  Has bitten our clients once or twice.  I liked the idea Kevin, of scripting to address this if it happens frequently with a client.

I'm just amazed that after all these years I've never run into that.  Same with a few other Consultants I pinged who've been around awhile, too.
