Sage 100

Been using v2019 (installed as ADV, running in STD mode) since it was releaed.  About once a week, printer connectivity is lost and the only fix has been to reboot the WS.  Usually works, but I have on occasion had to do it a couple times in a day.  If figured it was just me or my installaton so have not investigated the issue.

Just got a note from client.  He has been running v2019 STD for about a month.  Printer is now flipping to deferred status on him.  v2019 is installed on a workstation and he is accessing the same workstation (single user).  WS is WIN 10 as well.  There is no network involved for him.

Not sure if it is an installer issue or a potential bug or something related to WIN 10 workstations.

Try browsing out to the network folder where Sage 100 is installed and adding a text file or folder under \\..\mas90    Does it challenge you with a logon request?  If so, it is permissions and the article @Therese Logeais provided should provide some insight. 

Often there is no Domain Controller and the P​​C just lost the permissions or password.  Try rebooting the PC each morning before starting work to eliminate disconnects.

Thanks.  Weird situation.  Life is good for a week and then Boom, deferred printer.  I don't think it is a permissions issue.since it is a random.  While it was just my PC, I suspected a sporadic network connection issue though I never encountered issue prior to v2019 running.  v2016, 2017 and 2018 never dropped to my recollection.  Then client calls with his issue.  Everything for him is on one workstation.  No network involved at all.

The main point of my post (since deferred printers are part of the Sage life) is to others had started experiencing the issue running v2019.

Just yesterday I had a client call with "deferred" being the only printer available on one workstation. (version 2016). After looking at network permissions (all OK). We noticed that the default printer on that workstation showed a "low ink" message. We switched the default printer to "print to one note" and that corrected the issue. I had the client change the ink on the printer and switched the default back to that printer and everything was fine again. 

I have seen this happen when the default printed is "offline" or "not ready" but I don't think I've ever seen it when the printer was just low on ink.

I just connected with a customer (v2018) this morning who also only had Deferred as a printing option. Reboot the workstation seems to correct it. I remember having this in 2016 I believe where I had to reboot my workstation.

But it seemed to fix it yesterday.  Maybe just switching the default off and on for that printer is what actually cleared it. I thought I would post it in case someone else could benefit from it.

David, that is pretty much the reason I started the thread.  Through the power of 90MI (90 Minds Intelligence), we can solve these irritating issues with something other than a "reboot your workstation" .  How many times have we heard from Sage Tech Support "you are the first to report this" and then it is forgotten.  Post your weird one off issues and let 90MI tie the loose strings together.

This is still occurring for client.  V2019 STD PU2 PR v2020.  Client will be printing along and then wham, deferred printer.  Has to reboot.  WIN 10 WS.  Same thing happens to me as well.  I have v2019 ADV PU2 PR v2020 but I am running it in STD mode.  Doesn't happen to me as frequently as it does to the client.  Has anyone noticed it since the last time discussed?  I haven't had any other client report it, though most of my v2019 installs are running in ADV mode.

Well that is certainly an interesting observation.  I do have a printer that is now "talking" about low ink but it is not the default printer for the workstation.  Will keep an eye out.  I am sure it will happen soon,

Try browsing out to the network folder where Sage 100 is installed and adding a text file or folder under \\..\mas90    Does it challenge you with a logon request?  If so, it is permissions and the article @Therese Logeais provided should provide some insight.

Often there is no Domain Controller and the P​​C just lost the permissions or password.  Try rebooting the PC each morning before starting work to eliminate disconnects.

This might not be a deferred printer issue. Might be Sage100 is not seeing the regular Windows Printers for some reason and the only one available is Deferred Printing. If you click on the drop-down for printers, do you see regular printers? I don't know the fix but I get it every so often as well and have to reboot..Look for KB 19709, Deferred printer is the only option available when accessing a Printing task

Well that is certainly an interesting observation.  I do have a printer that is now "talking" about low ink but it is not the default printer for the workstation.  Will keep an eye out.  I am sure it will happen soon,

Just yesterday I had a client call with "deferred" being the only printer available on one workstation. (version 2016). After looking at network permissions (all OK). We noticed that the default printer on that workstation showed a "low ink" message. We switched the default printer to "print to one note" and that corrected the issue. I had the client change the ink on the printer and switched the default back to that printer and everything was fine again.

I have seen this happen when the default printed is "offline" or "not ready" but I don't think I've ever seen it when the printer was just low on ink.

Thanks.  Weird situation.  Life is good for a week and then Boom, deferred printer.  I don't think it is a permissions issue.since it is a random.  While it was just my PC, I suspected a sporadic network connection issue though I never encountered issue prior to v2019 running.  v2016, 2017 and 2018 never dropped to my recollection.  Then client calls with his issue.  Everything for him is on one workstation.  No network involved at all.

The main point of my post (since deferred printers are part of the Sage life) is to others had started experiencing the issue running v2019.

Try browsing out to the network folder where Sage 100 is installed and adding a text file or folder under \\..\mas90    Does it challenge you with a logon request?  If so, it is permissions and the article @Therese Logeais provided should provide some insight.

Often there is no Domain Controller and the P​​C just lost the permissions or password.  Try rebooting the PC each morning before starting work to eliminate disconnects.
