Default values in UDFs in 4.40 - am having problems getting a default value to show on a UDF in 4.40 if there is no validation. Is there a trick I""m missing?

I see the drop-down on the Default Value field but did you try just typing your default value? Otherwise, what screen? What type of UDF? I just did a quick test of a string UDF on S/O Header and it seemed to work fine. 4.40 PU4

I did type in the Default Value and it shows up in the UDF setup. But on the screen where I have it placed - blank. These are all string UDFs, and happen to be on SO, too. PU5. If I go do Advanced settings, it shows up there, too. Just not on the screen. :-( I guess I'll try deleting one off the screen and putting it back on and seeing what happens - the only thing that is different from yours is that these were UDFs converted from 3.71.

Agreed, I'd next try creating a new UDF from scratch. Btw, did you actually begin to create a S/O because I don't think the UDF default value will show until you create a new record? Just going into S/O Entry will likely show that field as blank. Plus I wouldn't expect the default value to show for any existing S/O's.

I'll try again in the morning and see what I see. The other fields, that have validation, DO show the default as soon as I switch to that tab (from a previously input order), but I'll play some more with it.

So, I tried on MY system at home (which is also PU4) and I created a UDF called TEST for the SO Header file with a default of N and even had a validation of N, Y. I put in on the header tab and on a new tab. In both places, it showed up as BLANK - instead of the N it should have shown.

Oh, WAIT - it shows up only if I start a new order. CRAP, that is not going to be helpful to the converted orders, but I guess it might work on the new ones. Weird, though - on some fields it SHOWS the default (grayed) when you start a new order, but on this one it doesn't fill in until you put in an order number. Wonder why the diff?
