Datawest is looking for a consultant in the Seattle/Tacoma area who is skilled in Sage 100, Scripting and would go on-site to one of their customers to do a system review and possibly additional services. Here's what I received: Hi Wayne, I'm a Sage 100 tech for a reseller near the San Francisco area. I have a customer in Kent Washington (between Seattle and Tacoma). We're their VAR but really there is a consultant who has worked with them for years. So I do very little direct support for them. They are looking for someone to go onsite and review their system, look at their day to day use of Sage 100, look at the advanced scripting that their current consultant has created, make recommendations on procedures, and possibly replace the current consultant. So it has to be someone who's familiar Sage 100 Premium and advanced scripting. I looked at the 90 Minds site and found a couple of consultants in the area. But I thought I'd check with you to see if you knew anyone or would recommend another way of finding a consultant in that area. Thanks for your time! And thanks for putting out your newsletter. I'm not a scripting or SQL person so this is out of my area of expertise. Seems like they are setting up a potentially uncomfortable situation. Bring in a consultant to evaluate another consultant. And niether consultant is the ROR. I don't think I would be too interested in the work even if I had the requested skill set.

I agree. I questioned them on this and they seemed like it was what they wanted to do. I won't do work for a customer where I'm one of two (or more) consultants. It sets you up for finger pointing and second guessing.

Datawest is primarily a network support group. They're a Sage reseller, but minimal knowledge and support. They are in Watsonville where we have a CPA office. When I first joined the firm I discovered that at least 10 of our CPA clients worked with Datawest. No cooperation from my partners there to get intros, so I gave up. Not sure why they continue to do Sage, so perhaps I should extend some sort of olive branch, since soon I will have a resource there.
