  • 1.  Data File Display won't let me copy/add GL Period Posting Record

    Data File Display won't let me copy/add a?? GL Period Posting Record.
    It usually works to change a key-field then update (choosing to retain the original record).

    It gives message:



    Is there a data-dictionary setting that prevents DFDM from copy/modify key fields on certain files?

    The KeySize field for that file in DFDM says:?? "N/A".??

    When that happens to me on some other file (a Scanco one, I think), I change one of the key fields to something bogus and save it and it asks if I want to delete the old one and I say Yes.  Then I delete this same record again and put it back to what it should be and say Delete to the old one again.

    Here is how I do this.

    Change the key field that you are changing, and also change the Sequence Number field. Make sure you change it to a sequence number that does not already exist. Then it will ask you if you want to remove the existing one.

    Solved for GL Period Posting Record by entering a $1 journal entry for the acct/period, and Sage automatically creates a record during update.
    Then reverse the posting.
