The client is coming from Sage 2017 Standard to Sage 2018 Advanced. Getting the following error 46 length of string invalid during the data conversion process when it gets to the Job Cost module. I reviewed the activity log but it shows me the same error during the conversion and references the SYS module. I have already opened a ticket with Sage and waiting to hear back. Could anyone provide some insight on what I should look at next? TIA

Hey Shannon - Most likely this is what you did but just in case not, that type of conversion error points you to the Activity Log strictly for the purpose of then further pointing you to a specific .LOG file in the \mas90\MAS_SYM folder to further review. You want to find that file (filename format below) and review it. IOW, in the Activity Log on the Error 46 entry, double-click on it to see the Activity Detail window so you can the .LOG to review.

    06.00 SYM-Company data Conversion Log-YYYYMMDD-HHMMss.log

    Hope that helps.

I reviewed the log and found that the last successful conversion of job cost files is JC_JobHistory file. I can see in DFDM where about 3/4 of the job cost files have converted and the last handful of job cost files haven't converted.  Attached a screenshot of the conversion log. How do I determine which JC file is causing the issue during conversion? Sorry for the late reply back to this issue.

It looks like the conversion from JC_H1 to JC_JobHistory is where the Error 46 occurred. Why don't you review the JC_H1SYM.soa file in the 2017 system.

Working with Alnoor he was able to locate the two bad records in the udf called (contractdate) in record name JC_90 (UDF JC master file) in v2017. There were 106 udf's on the JC Job Masterfile to review. He was able to locate which UDF was causing the error and correct it. I was able to migrate the data again and complete the conversion of the JC module in v2018. Enjoyed getting the opportunity to work with Alnoor.
