Customer is looking at DataSelf and Sage Data Analytics for Dashboards and various reporting needs. They did a demo with both but can't decide which to go with. Assuming cost is not a factor, any pros/cons/suggestions. I've never used or implemented either. TIA

We were just in the same boat.  Our client ended up going with DataSelf, mainly on my recommendation.  The way I see it, DataSelf has been around for years.  How many reporting tools has Sage gone through in that same timeframe?  Too many.  One notable difference I saw between the two was the voice commands that are available with DataSelf.  I never saw anything indicating Sage Data Analytics has that capability.  The installation is done and training is being scheduled.  So far the experience has been great.

SDA will get you Sage Tier credit FWIW!  SDA seems to have an involved set up AND you have to be certified to do it.  I know of two people who have jumped through that hoop.  I am not hearing a lot of reseller buzz for SDA.  As Mary Jo points out, this seems to be the latest shiny object that has Sage's attention.  Dataself has been around for some time now.  They claim to have a large library of "canned" reports.  But every Sage user has "different" needs.

I have never implemented Data Self, but out of the box there are a lot more reports and graphs that you can utilize and you still have the opportunity to design reports. S D & A is also a great product but there is a lot of setup at first but the reports are easy to design.  Not as many reports as Data Self in there library.

If money does become an issue look at Nectari.  Designed real similar to SD & A, and substantially lower cost and it also has an Excel Add-in that comes with it Similar to F9.

Disclosure: I am not independent as DataSelf is a newsletter sponsor.

I lean toward DataSelf largely for what Mary Jo says.
And I echo her comment "how many report tools has Sage gone through..."

I believe Clark Walliser is still at DataSelf and I trust that he knows Sage + DataSelf enough to keep a project on track.

P.S. - with every third party ISV I tell the ISV that my customer wants to be a reference for them and to become a raving fan. I think it helps keep the customer on the ISV's radar...
