Dare I say paperless???? V2013 WIN 7 64 OS workstation. Migrated from v4.4 on Thursday. THOUGHT this workstation was working properly then, now getting this error message. Uninstalled WKSetup, reinstalled using autorun.exe running as administrator, Changed the PDF driver to port C:\users\public\sage. No dice, tried the old Sage PDF port, nothing, uninstalled the drive using the PL_advancedOption_UI, nothing, unchecked the lock file selection, nope, searched KB for link below. https://partners.sagenorthamerica.com/irj/go/km/docs/sageKM/Sage%20MAS%2090%20and%20200/Gated%20Customers/Warr_Svc_Support%20Plan/529971.html Any other thoughts???

Can you open anything else in Adobe? I had something similar happen last week and when I tried opening something, it had some update installed and I had to click through some questions. It then worked.

Have you verified it is not a rights issue to the PDF directory? Also this sounds eerily similar to the issue of Adobe 10 vs Adobe 11. I've had to downgrade Some clients to version 10 of adobe . I think it is specific to some font that sage uses in version 2013 and when e-mailing to our clients customers they were even having issues opening them too, so we changed the font that was used on the invoice / Sales order form to something more common (Arial maybe). and that solved. it.

http://www.nitroreader.com/ Free, even as a PDF printer, and without the bloat and resulting incompatibilities with life the universe and everything.

@ThereseLogeais - Adobe opens fine.... @DavidOverholt - I did do the go to their paperless folder. They have the proper rights... I even created, modified, then deleted to verify. @PhilMcIntosh - not ready yet. Will uninstall adobe first and load up version X before telling the client that Sage and Adobe don't play well together....

Just tell them you have a free product that will load their pdfs in half the time...

I had this issue when there was more than one PDF created for a single transaction - sort of what the KB article is saying but in this case there were already multiples out there. Does it happen with every PDF you try or are you able to create a new one that you know only has one copy and have it work?

Is it only this workstation? Do you have another workstation that is working? If so, can this Mas user create pdf's logged into THAT workstation?

@RandyMarion - Paperless works fine on their XP workstation (though I am encouraging them to move beyond XP) .@KateKrueger - Interesting observation. They do have the keep only last copy UNCHECKED as the KB instructs, so they do have multiple copies of the PDF. I may delete them all and start over to see if that is the issue. But I will probably uninstall Reader XI if that doesn't work.

Sadly, uninstalling Reader XI and installing Reader X had no impact. Looks like a support call to Sage is next on the agenda.

I am starting to think something is awry here. Client says that updating the check register works fine, manual check register nor the AP invoice register display properly. Now I am thinking a rights issue of some sort. Unfortunately, they have the network folders assigned by company by module by type of register. Ugh!

Placed a support call to Sage only to have the tech (Nathan) scratching his head also. Seems that the WIN 7 64 OS workstation is a bit faster that Sage is and that it is opening Reader and the file scant nano seconds before the file is saved to the archive folder. In AP invoice update, two PDF's are created (register detail and register GL recap), then these two are combined into one. Reader then opens the combined file. On this workstation, it is opening before the combined file is reader. He downloaded a reader called Foxit and even that was too fast. Will see if he calls back today.

Another update from Sage tech. I spoke with another analyst here that's had a few cases like this and so far we have not been able to determine the cause. One thing he wanted me to check was the type of HDD on the Windows 7 workstation. He wanted to know if it was a Solid State Drive (SSD). We're starting to believe faster drives are processing the request to open the file before the files have been combined.

Hey Jeff, I would echo the previous posts about ditching Adobe entirely in favor of Foxit or Nitro. I thought the port we used was C:\Sage, not Users\Public. Also, you may be past this but did you make sure the folders for the PDF are under the MAS90 directory (if they don't like this you can just do it for testing purposes). Again this may all be coming too late but this sounds more like the ""0 KB"" KB to me: https://partners.sagenorthamerica.com/irj/go/km/docs/sageKM/Sage%20MAS%2090%20and%20200/Gated%20Customers/Warr_Svc_Support%20Plan/524104.html Sorry I don't know all the nuances here about embedding pictures and links. Just learning the ropes. I'm supposed to use @ before a name, aren't I? I'll get the hang of this. Cheers, Cullen

@CullenLowe Thanks for the insight. The Sage tech guy did download Foxit but the same error resulted as when we used Adobe. I rarely store the paperless folders under the MAS90 folder anymore as that just create work when you have to do a parallel install of the latest flavor of MAS. In fact, this client (new to me in the past month) didn't realize where her PDF's were being stored until we deleted her MAS v4.2 folder (she didn't want the old files hanging around as lost two days one time when they posted to an old install). About an hour later when she was updating an AP entry, she found out the paperless folders no longer existed. Oops. Luckily, they had a good backup from the night before. Regarding the port, at our MOTM conference last spring (have you taken the survey yet), we had a session where c:\users\public\sage was presented as the path of least resistance for the paperless port. The tech also looked for the zero KB pdf's, to no avail. All in all, I was very satisfied with my tech today. Unfortunately, there resolution is proving elusive.

Update. I purchased a WIN 8 tablet so I could start getting ahead of clients. I added it to my office domain and install Sage 100 Advanced. Adobe 11 reader. Same problem as above client. Sage tech support is supposed to take a look around on Tuesday. Is two a coincidence or a trend........ At least Sage can look till their hearts content on this one. Maybe they will solve it.

One Last Update (I hope) - Installing the PU5 update with all of the form font changes did the trick. From Nathan (Sage Tech support) - I resolved the issue by replacing their AP_InvoiceRegister.rpt and AP_RecapByDivsion.rpt files located in the mas90\Reports\ folder with the updated versions from Product Update 5 for Sage 100 ERP 2013. There was an issue in Sage 100 ERP 2013 for any Reports/Forms where the Header was BOLD and used Microsoft Sans Serif font; it was treated as an image which made the file size larger. Product Update 5 resolved the issue by changing the Fonts on all Headers to Arial. It also included an updated Crystal Reports Conversion Utility to update any forms that existed under the Company Reports folder (i.e. mas90\mas_xxx\Reports\, where xxx is the company code).

Hello @JeffSchwenk So do we need to worry about using Microsoft Sand Serif font if we have PU5 installed and then use that font ?

It sounds like after installing PU5 you would run that updated utility and it changes the fonts to a non-bold one on the rpt files. Guessing.

The reason I am asking is I am working on a upgrade now and when I upgraded some of the reports and created some new ones I know I used that font since the client likes it :) So what I am asking is do I need to change the font if we need it bold?

For what it is worth, I just tried it on my machine and all is ok, not to say when I install it on the client side and go live it won't go south. Thanks for the heads up !!!
