Customers Getting Payroll Renewals OK so the customers are starting to get hit with the new benefits of payroll and are bitching. What is the consensus move? Is there a hotline for Sage to handle the ""explanation""? Is there a third party payroll service people are recommending? Clients want answers and I don't know of any good ones!

How dare they bitch! The only answer that works is ""it is what it is"". (They didn't like that answer either, but they stopped shouting!) Sage Payroll Services integrates to GL and may be less than the ADP's.

A large user count system asking for Sage alternatives. Sounds like an opportunity to sell rather than piss off with a ""it is what it is"" statement.

We sent out letters to all Payroll clients including those that will not have an increase until next year. The letters had exactly what they would be paying and why. We had only two calls and they have been dealt with. My logic was that we should deal with it before they get notices from Sage. Our largest has 5,000 employees and they did not call to complain. The complainers have 10 or less employees.

Can you share your letter template?

I did the same as John and nobody called to complain. My sense is that most won't pay attention until they see the maintenance renewal for PR.

The maximum for large employee counts is $1,200 per year. I challenge anyone to find an outside service that will match that. Attached is our letter which was based on the one supplied by Sage. We bolded the key items specific to the customer. Note that the last sentence has Sage's number. It's possible some of these clients called that number rather than us.

I just refer them back to Sage. All of mine have a contact to call. Wish I was a fly on the wall.

Is there a specific contact at Sage. We used to know our renewal person in Norcross but she got caught in the revolving door!

Send questions to the rep who works your normal ERP renewals. That team is supposed to be able to answer questions and send out the forms to the customers. There is no ""direct"" contact for payroll subscription, that we have been made aware of. Sales Advisors in Irvine are out of the loop for this one.
