Customer upgraded recently from 4.4 to 2014 Premium. Day end Paperless invoice printing has gone from 5-10 minutes to 30-40 minutes. Any ideas on what to check?

I always start with the obvious. Is PEP turned off?

    PEP is off.

Which product update? I'm thinking of the MS Sans Serif Bold issue. You can just open the Rpt file of the invoice and check for it. If you find it take off the bold or switch to another bold. Look in any subreports too.

And AV excluding the new folder?

Made sure the MS Sans Serif font was replaced with Arial. AV exclusions done. No AV on server. IT (and this guy knows his stuff) monitored and no significant load on workstation or server. Server still had free memory, and SQL is not limited in memory usage. He ran a cable direct from the switch to the workstation to rule out any issues with what is in the wall. Some days it is OK, and some days it takes forever. Also, all users report that the work table creation part of all the form and report printing is taking much longer than in 4.4. Any ideas?

    1. Try with a fresh new form code 2. Regarding the paperless network performance issue - from Sage regarding a slowdown I had experienced with DD stubs. Not sure this is directly applicable as it references RDP. Microsoft has claimed it as a defect in RDP and the workaround is to set the Windows default printer to a LOCAL printer. o The reseller that posted this to LinkedIn was the test case and it resolved her issue. She said she would post her results back to the thread, I don't think she did. o Any local printer we used 'Microsoft XPS Document Writer' for the reseller in question. * Microsoft is working on a code fix.

No RDP involved here. Paperless processing is done on the client, not the server, correct?

So far as I know yes.

Crystal reports run local to the workstation. Paperless driver is local to the workstation. Chilkat I think is processed through the server if Advanced or Premium.

Tried Sage support. First bit of bad news: emailing Ronnie Aspe got an out of office response. Second bad news: the rep who answered the phone actually said that the client server ODBC is used with the SQL version. Strike Three: Sage knows there is a performance issue with Paperless introduced on 2014 update 4 but not yet resolved. May involve updating Crystal dlls. Asked three times to be sent the document he was looking at, but don't think it got through...

I assume that means performance on all versions of Sage with PU4?

I think so, but given that I haven't actually seen the document it is still an assumption. Currently watching the grass grow on customer's machine - PDFs taking about 12 seconds each to create, which for 156 invoices will be 31 minutes, which is apparently an improvement on last night where 157 invoices took 78 minutes to PDF. Fucus...

Well this is entertaining: The first two minutes 9 invoices were created per minute. It is now 70 minutes in and down to one invoice per minute.

ODBC tracing off on the workstation?

Got this update from Sage yesterday afternoon. (Customer only had about 50 invoices yesterday but it completed in about 3 minutes. Hoping this is the fix but not 100% sure yet) My comments in [ ].: Printing a large batch (> 150) of customized documents to Paperless Office causes a performance issue after installing Product Update 4 for Sage 100 ERP 2014 Article Products Sage 100 ERP Description Printing a large batch (> 150) of customized documents to Paperless Office causes a performance issue after installing Product Update 4 for Sage 100 ERP 2014 Resolution Reconvert Report: 1. Open the Form in Crystal Designer via the Designer Button (Crystal Reports 2011 for Sage is a separate component that needs to be installed on the workstation) 2. From within the Crystal Designer, Go to File, Summary Info 3. Change the ""Keywords"" section and remove ""b"". Example: Converted to version 5.10 [Note: when you run invoice printing after doing this it prompts you to ""convert to current level."" Apparently this is desired.] 4. Save the Form 5. Go to File, Page Setup. 6. Select the workstations default windows printer and save the Form. [Asked and did not get much of an answer on whether this will be a problem if multiple people print invoices and have different default printers. Might be to make sure there isn't a garbage printer setting in here.] UpdateCrystal Reports Runtime engine to Support Pack 12 (v.13.0.12.1494): 1. Close Sage 100 on the workstation 2. Download the ""MSI 32 BIT"" version of Support Pack 12 (32bit.msi) from http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-7824 (Note: Do not install any other version or service pack) 3. Extract contents of CRforVS_redist_install_32bit_13_0_12.zip 4. Install CRRuntime_32bit_13_0_12.msi (SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET Framework (32-bit) setup) 5. When complete, reprint form/report.

This is exactly the type of problem that sticks in the end user's brain and why the next time we tell them that it's ""time to update"" that they run

Before or after the Crystal service pack? That did solve the problem for my customer.

Before. I'm testing it out now. I had to wait until their baby batch was done before I could start anything. 9 invoices! 4 hours! OMG!

OMG, I now see why it took so long. It has somehow smooshed together what looks like every invoice ever created into one big invoice, over and over. This is not good....they just dumped all of their invoices to ALL of their customers to 9 different customers.... OH EXPLETIVE

But on a good note, when I reprinted it went really fast. Holy bat guano, I have no idea how this could have happened. It's like a work file once again didn't get cleared out.
