  • 1.  Customer upgrade from v4.4 to v2016 PU1, with Nati

Customer upgrade from v4.4 to v2016 PU1, with National Accounts a big part of this. They had been using AR-1068 to create that SoldTo-ShipTo functionality for ~10 years prior. We ran the utility specified before upgrade to fix addresses, but it reported ""no data found."" This is the same customer situation Chuck reported earlier this week. We had done a couple upgrades of similar situations in the past from v4.4, but those were to v4.5 or v2013. No problems there. In this upgrade the secondary id field in the AR Open Invoice Header and AR invoice History Header files were blank. The primary id's in these records are different. Hence in Open the SoldTo field is blank, but in History the BillTo field is blank. The two files are quite large: 88MB in the prior and 158MB in the latter. This was done from a sandbox and we still have the original v4.4 too. The upgrade behavior was the same in the trial upgrade. Attempts to use VI to place the correct data in the empty fields fail. VI throws nonsensical data type errors on the 2 fields. Alnoor says that he can structure a script to get around these limitations and fix all the data, which would be fine. My question is this: when did this program bug sneak in? We see NO reference to it anywhere. There would have made a lot of noise if this was the performance in early versions of this. I suspect that 4.5 NA conversions are few and far between now, and therefore any bug created in recent version upgrades would be unfound. Anybody have any insights or experience here?

Since you have a sandbox, can you try an interim upgrade to 2013? Just to see if the bug is customer-specific or version-specific?

We are already live. Customer's testing didn't find this before. Frankly, because we had experience upgrading NA, it wasn't really on anybody's radar. But the customer was responsible for signing off on the sandbox test. @AlnoorCassim can craft a Providex utility to populate the fields, but he confirms that no configuration of VI can write into the two empty fields. If anybody has a customer with National Accounts on v4.4 or earlier and wants to upgrade, DEFINITELY do a 2-step: first to v4.5, then to the current version. Something broke in the upgrade script in later versions -- I am guessing v2016.

A ProvideX utility would be the quickest. Another option may be to make a test company duplicate of the live company. Reinitialize AR invoice history header I and detail. Import the AR invoice history to the SO Invoice Header and Detail then update the sales journal. That will populate the AR history. Copy the AR history header to the live company.
