Customer sells a particular item individually or in cartons of 12 each. If not sold in a carton, price is $40.08. Carton pricing is $384.72 ($32.06/each). So, if customer buys 24 items, total price is $769.44 ($32.06/each for all) but if they buy 25, total price is $1,002.00 ($40.08/each for all). What would be best way to set this up? Thanks!

Yikes.... Sounds like the answer may be a script

Two separate items? Do they want to track how many cartons vs individual items they sell?

I was thinking about 2 separate items but they prefer to see stock level as a whole. I am glad that it isn't an obvious solution because it had my brain spinning.

You could do two different price levels for the item (at a each price), BUT the user would need to remember to change the price level between the case and individual pricing.

The customer is ok with changing the price level so that should work! Thanks for all the suggestions!

Get ready for the next question to be how to issue credit memos to the customers who figure out how expensive that 25th item was...

Write a script to divide the quantity by the carton count. If a whole number, one price level. If not a whole number, then the second price level.

There is a DSD solution for alternate unit of measure in inventory. Give it a try. It may solve your issue.

Would the built-in volume pricing be too imprecise? Because 24 is a nice efficient package, but 25 isn't?
