Customer on Sage 100 v4.40.0.2. The problem is Paperless Office with Payroll Check register updates. The problem started when he got a new workstation (Windows 7 Pro) a few months ago; before that all was good. All Payroll register/journal updates are set to go to PLO, and all other elements of Payroll printing perform in PLO just fine. When he runs the Payroll Check Register update it prompts him for PLO (y/n) which is fine. But then it prompts him for the file name; it should be just creating the pdf automatically. If you just power through without a file name it errs with ""Filexxx not found."" If you type in the file name all is good. Any ideas?

I had this and I want to say it has to do with the port on the paperless PDF on the workstation. Change it to a local port.

Love the legacy modules! I would verify that the Sage PDF has been set up in accordance to the document shared at the MOTM conference. If that doesn't work, then uninstall the PDF via the advanced options UI, then reinstall (doing so as local admin), the reset according to the PDF document.

I'm certainly open to trying this. But, again, EVERY other PLO printing done from this workstation FAD. Even other journal/register printing in Payroll FAD. So, can it really be port related?

Could it be that the paperless for forms goes to another folder and maybe a rights issue? Yeah I don't know how that would cause it to prompt for a filename either - just trying to provide ideas to look at.

The customer is reasonably tech savvy, so I passed him the step-by-step on checking the ports. He'll see if it makes a difference. I originally thought it might be a dll-registration issue, but when I saw that the other PLO printing was fine, that possibility went out the window. I already checked the destination folder, and the other Payroll journals-registers are saving into it just fine.

What about the crazy PDF setup for one specific document - I don't think it was checks though. I remember @JeffSchwenk ran across it maybe a year or so ago. Had to flag a system file so the document used paperless. Again if it's working (same form) for others then it's probably not relevant. Just churning ideas...

That was the pre check register AP. The last I suggested that, the report back was that it had no effect.

I forgot to say that I had them run the register printing on another workstation: no problem. It is something local.

When the ""Check Register"" pick screen is displayed, click ""Printer Setup"" in the bottom right corner. Make sure that the ""Print to File"" check box is not selected.

Good suggestion. It was set to the local machine's printer. Same setting as works with the other PLO functions from the workstation. Frustrating as hell.

Are you using Direct Deposit? If so, check in PLO, Setup, Form Maintenance for proper Direct Deposit configuration. Also, have you tried changing the default printer just to rule out the printer driver?

No DD. Default printer. Doubt this a lot, because the workstation handles PLO printing for other tasks and modules just fine.
