Customer on older version FAS 2015.1 calls wondering why old section 179 limit is only available and not the current limit. I'm pretty sure its because the 2015.1 version has the 25,000 179 limit hard coded. Anyone know if this can be overridden? (I guess not). Also, do your customers get directly billed for their maintenance from FAS? My experience (belief) is that FAS directly bills for maintenance, and it doesn't go to the ERP partner for re-billing. Is that accurate or did Sage change something? This particular customer seems as if they are three years off maintenance, and I'm not quite sure why Sage wouldn't have been directly invoicing for maintenance. Trying to gather up as much info as I can before I play 20 questions with the customer as to why they are suddenly off plan.

I had a similar situation several years ago. They were wondering why they hadn't gotten an upgrade. I assumed they were paying Sage directly. Sage couldn't answer what went wrong and said they could pay and upgrade but they had to upgrade through all interim releases which of course, they didn't have and Sage couldn't provide. They are still using the old version on an old XP machine.

It looks as if the customer bought the Sage 100 FAS edition - though at the time we also were selling them 3 add'l users. So from what I can see Sage has been building the maintenance into their annual renewal. In reality, I'd have no way to prove or disprove that since Sage only sends one lumps sum for renewals. Long story short (so far) looks as if the keys are in our online portal since Sage claims it is the Sage 100 FAS version. It was over 3 years ago that we put this in and I don't do an awful lot with FAS other than respond to an occasional support inquiry and sell a license here or there. Previously I could swear that anything I sold with FAS was from the ""regular"" FAS and not Sage 100 FAS. I'll update if I learn anything more (this was a March 2013 sale).

Sage has always billed SFA directly. If you are/were an authorized reseller, you would have to contact Sage to redirect the invoice. When I dropped from commission ledge, I just told the customer to pay Sage directly...

That was my experience as well. We sold it when we were maintaining our FAS certification then stopped. If I remember correctly (and that's a long shot), they would send us notices of renewals.

I always understood that any upgrade from Sage 100 FAS to another FAS moved you into ""full FAS"" territory. I can't recall updating anyone under the old Sage 100 FAS and having them still remain under the Sage 100 ERP account where i could see the current keys. I guess maybe I've seen my first one.

I've never understood why FAS requires you to install all versions from where you are to where you need to be. However, if I had too many interim versions, I think I would try exporting the data, installing the newest version, then importing the data in.

For some unknown reason FAS seems to have stood as their own ""island"" for many many years (and reorganizations). I can only speculate they have great renewal rates and Sage leaves them alone.
