Customer number is not numeric. Client had a ser

Customer number is not numeric. Client had a server crash, they were/are on version 4.4 advanced. We moved everything to a new server and are having issues with entering credit cards. Credit cards are stored in the ""old"" encrypted format. When we manually try to enter a new card for customer we are getting message Customer ""ABF"" is not numeric. (ABF is the customer number in Sage). It might be important to note that after we moved to the new server we were also getting a message that the encryption key was invalid. The client said it was ok to answer YES to remove existing credit cards. We made a backup and then answered YES to that question. anyone have anything in the ""wayback"" machine on this one?

Hi @DavidOverholt! First, that error is certainly a red herring. This has nothing to do with the customer number of course. My guess is that the error that is really occurring isn't properly setting the error message so it's just using he last one that was set. Check your URLs and make sure that you can connect from that server or workstation (depending on whether standard or advanced). If it fails because of a connection error, it might not properly notify you. If that checks out, then you might need to do something with the encryption keys. That was my original thought, but I later decided it probably was something simpler. Also check the payment types to insure that the correct credentials are in there. I have seen this very error before, but I cannot find it in my records, sadly.

Thanks Phil, They are not using Sage Payment Solutions, or any other integrated processor , they are simply putting the CC numbers in the credit card field and adding the expiration date and such for them to refer to when they manually process

Oh. Well that makes it doubly strange. That leads me to believe that it is an encryption key problem, but that's just a hunch. You've already erased all the old credit cards, right? If so, try resetting the encryption key. I think the procedure is in a knowledgebase article somewhere.

I wonder have you tried rebuilding key files/rebuild sort for AR? attached might be the kb Phil suggested.

I just now Rebuilt sort files (no luck) I then tried to generate a new encryption key, tried to delete the encryption key, etc. when we do that we get ""unable to set the credit card encryption key. The credit card conversion process has been aborted"" (screen shot attached).

Well, I'm reading the attachment from @JeremyFox provided (thanks for that) and went back to the client and asked how they ""moved"" the mas90 folder and asked if they migrated the company and system files together; the answer was yes, but then we had to recopy the data and we just moved the company folders that time. So I think that is the problem, which now becomes my problem since they have been working in Sage for a day and a half. Is there a way to recreate that encryption key.

Vaguely recall there being a button for recreating the encryption key in Company Maintenance, yet not sure of which tab now.

...and the tab should be Credit Card (marvel!) In v4.4 there was a encryption generation button there.

@DavidOverholt, the message you showed implies that it thinks credit card conversion is in process. Using DFDM, take a look at MAS_SYSTEM\SY_CreditCardRestart.M4T and see if there's a record in there. If there is, then you can remove it then try resetting the encryption key again. Maybe it will work this time.

I looked and there is not a record in SY_CreditCardRestart and I am trying to generate a new key from company maintenance > preferences tab. there are users in other company codes and I wonder if that is causing the message so i'll be trying again tomorrow morning when everyone is out of all company codes
