Customer just upgraded their workstation to windows 10 - on 4.50 . When they go to print a register the pdf is generated in Paperless office but not popping up like it should. IF they have the adobe running first then they say it will work properly. They are on the latest version of Adobe. Do you think it could be that I need to downgrade the Adobe?

Brave... I told my customer that window 10 is not supported and they need to upgrade. You're missing out on an upgrade opportunity..

I already told them that. The IT staff just upgraded them with out asking me or looking at the document that was sent to them.

Those of you (I'm looking at you, IT people) who think you know everything are annoying to those of us who do :-)

Downgrading the version of Adobe would be my first guess

I have a similar problem with a customer as well. the customer complained about the font being odd in exporting to adobe from a print preview. We found that it was happening with computers with new installations of Windows7 Professional 64 bit only. The computers with older versions of Win 7 did not have the problem. We downgraded adobe and reinstalled MAS and paperless office converter all to no avail. I am interested to see what others say.

FWIW Microsoft placed the Windows 10 upgrade on the ""recommended"" list. That means that if your client's workstation is set to install updates automatically and the check box for get recommended updates is checked (which it is by default) and the get Microsoft product updates is checked (which again is by default) they may come into work to find that Windows 10 has been installed. Worth noting is if that happens and you do not accept the EULA but hit Decline it does a roll back to Windows 7. But only changing the Windows Update will prevent 10 from popping up again a few days later. I have now seen this 4 times... could get ugly...

In Adobe Reader are we sure there is no EULA prompt or similar prompt to acknowledge requiring an OK button press? That would definitely prevent any software app from popping open a PDF. One way to test is export from Crystal to PDF but choose the option to Open in Application instead of Save to Disk. If PDF won't pop open there either then it's a prompt or setting in Adobe.

@GregStiles is correct that MS is pushing Windows 10, well, more like shoving Windows 10. My IT person (that does know more than most) sent me a list of all the things you need to uncheck in Win 7 & 8 to prevent the MS forced upgrade and still get your regular updates. I'll find it tonight and post it.

Moira's IT guy' list is pretty good, although I'm not sure if disabling all updates is the way to go. We tried to 'hide' those updates for our clients, but Microsoft has been re-publishing the updates with the same KB number, which effectively un-hides them (meaning they may still get installed). https://www.grc.com/never10.htm is the quick tool we use to set the registry keys, which has worked for us (so far...).

Thanks @SteveIwanowski - did not know that MS was being so sneaky. Good to have.

@MoiraGoggin - I'm getting a ""page not found"" when I click your link about preventing auto update to Win 10.
