Customer is trying to decide between renewing the current perpetual license or changing to 100Cloud subscription. Does anyone have a list of the differences between 100 and 100Cloud? What are the advantages of changing?

Look at this link... There is a road ahead posted with differences of Cloud and perpetual. https://90minds-com.socialcast.com/messages/38753592?ref=stream Differences? Depends on whether you want to give into the Borg and be assimilated. I thought the new renewals for perpetual were supposed to be going through the roof (unlike Cloud which are only hitting the ceiling). Switching to Cloud will result in the loss of functionality if you stop paying the membership fees. Cloud is the future. Everybody's doing it. Better to bite the bullet and just be done with it. Death by a thousand paper cuts.

    Thanks Jeff!

This varies from customer to customer. The biggest benefit I've seen is when the customer can move o SQL or Advanced at no added licensing cost. In some cases I've seen customers save money by reducing licenses. IMO Sage just needs to rip this band aid off and push all their customers to 100cloud and tell them that they'll hold maintenance at current with 10% price increases. I'm probably wishing for a lot but there should be a way the customer accepts this online and provides the credit card all at the same time.

Small clients (one and two users) are typically less money with 100cloud and get VI and Custom Office (if they don't already own). Larger clients can change to Advanced or Premium if not already on them. The clients in the middle are the ones feeling the squeeze. They are going to pay 20% more on perpetual this year (or more) and they are guaranteed to see 10% a year on 100cloud. There are the features in the above link. I have very few left on 100 (all on 100cloud). My conversation goes into these exact details and then indicate that experience tells me when Sage gets to some tipping point, then they will ""rip this band aid off"". Not sure there is much use in fighting this transition.

It's that Sage has made the administrative burden so ugly that Sage should really be ashamed that nobody in corporate stepped up to streamline this. As an example, the number of touch points to discuss this with a single customer is absurd. Add in a customer who is in one of those arbitrary and random ""promo"" periods where they can move 4 months early ( I call this the ""help Sage make their quarterly numbers"" promo ) but can't make any changes until 30 days prior to renewal and even then Sage bills them incorrectly. This is and continues to be a sad embarrassment.

Faxed payment authorizations, one key at a time assigned to a client, incorrect lock down of an install, no notification on renewals... Is this what you mean by a sad embarrassment? I literally just got off a call being reprimanded by a client for just these issues.

I have 20+ emails to and from this customer trying to explain the options. I need to get some real work done today. As Wayne likes to say... I'm the unpaid complaint / customer service department.

First, most customers won't go 100cloud without your recommendation (and 45 minutes of explanation followed by a second 30 minutes when you send over the paperwork). Second, they don't understand who some ""promo"" which at best holds the price the same (aren't promos supposed to save money?) requires that they submit all this paperwork by fax 4-5 months ahead of renewal. Third, they email you when a surprise charge shows up on their credit card that doesn't agree to their ""promo $"" you promised them was the way to go. Now you get to start all over with laying down an email and paper trail to get this corrected (all for no money and loss of customer goodwill/confidence). I sit down at MOTM with Sage to point this out and they just get a faraway stare.

Rings a bell. I push the upgrades to Advance with the ""faster"" CS ODBC connection. Don't have anyone on Premium although I have a candidate whose IT department would love the SQL db. Not sure if it would make the accountants lives any better though.

There are some specific differences - with 100cloud, the company gets 5 users of Scanco Counts and 5 users of Scanco Sales (perpetual only gets 5 users of Counts). With a Gold plan or above, the company gets Sage Inventory Advisor Basic. And there are a couple of functional differences - i think printing quote history and merging multiple orders into one invoice are going to be 100cloud features only.

Thanks @DouglasLuchansky Those are benefits worth considering. @JeffSchwenk You are very brave using the CS ODBC as a selling point. Unless there is very slow printing, I try to avoid CS ODBC. Too many ""nobody can print"" support calls at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon, because the CS ODBC service is stalled.

@DougHiggs @AlnoorCassim has posted a time or two about the memory leak that the program has. As such, he highly recommend setting this up for restart on a nightly basis. This seems to alleviate the pesky issue. Perhaps he will elaborate again on the issue.

I have a bat file that is executed by the Windows task scheduler on all of my cs odbc installations. One more workaround I don't want to deal with if it isn't necessary. I am not touting cs odbc as a must have. I use it only when necessary, because it is not reliable.
