Customer is entering in sales orders to Sage 100 ERP 2014. They now claim that they notice ""00"" comes up on a blank SO (before entering customer) as default terms. They claim ""this never used to be this way"" . From what I can tell SO just grabs the first term numerically ?

And as soon as you enter the customer it is going to overwrite it with THEIR code, so .... But I checked in 3.71 and it does NOT display, so for once a customer is right on one of those picky little things.

They have been on 2014 a while. I think it's customer error as they're now noticing someone may have changed terms within some customers as well... Anticipating next question: So Wayne could you check with Sage and see if they have any reports of terms codes spontaneously changing ?

I suppose you could quell their tantrum by doing a quick 3 line script to blank out the Terms Code when Next Order No is clicked (just so it can be overwritten again when the Customer No is entered). This would restore their previous experience and possibly compel them to sing Oh My Lord Kumbaya You could try Advanced Field Settings as an alternative but not sure it would let you set a blank default value. On Post-Read of SO Sales Order Header If oBusObj.EditState = 2 Then retVal = oBusObj.SetValue(""TermsCode$"", """") End If

Or create a new Terms Code called 99 with the description of CHANGE ME or Poof I Be Gone Soon (when Customer No entered). Either script or Advanced Field Settings to set 99 as the default. But that may be too much change for them and they would ask you to change it back.

I'd just ask them to embrace change and move on.

I find increasingly customers listen only for the word ""yes"" - they don't hear or want to hear the ""provided that you do this, this and this and the pros/cons are this"".

Then rephrase the question. Does ""00"" display when initially starting an order? YES! Will the terms code change once a customer # is entered? YES! Can we make it display something else for the half second you see it before entering a customer code? YES! I'll forward a quote. Can you save money by ignoring it and move on to more important issues? YES!

Wayne, your observation is worth exploring at MOTM. I think dealing with that reality is a huge opportunity for partners who really want to concentrate on the customer's needs. Communicating technology as it relates to business needs is only becoming harder, and addressing that need will be seen as ""value"" to customers.

If we are realistic then our reality message has to be: 1. Yes you can customize it 2. If you outsource the programming you will likely be reliant on the coder 3. Future upgrades may or may not be simple 4. We have a minimum fee to spec these (trust me that free is not sustainable) including if you retain us to search and arrange for demonstrations of pre-written solutions
