Customer has a new 2012 server. Sage 100 Advanced 2013 has been installed on it with same PU. In the Pre-Migration screen when browsing to the data files, I receive the message ""The \\server\Sage\Sage 100 Advanced ERP\MAS90\GLXXX file folder cannot be accessed. I have checked and no files are open. The MAS 90 folder has full permissions. Any ideas? TIA!

Service or application running? Are you on the server or workstation getting the error. Have you followed the service user ""bible"" that @AlnoorCassim wrote regarding this?? URL to post is below. What happens when you run it in MAS 90 mode??? https://90minds-com.socialcast.com/messages/20400621

@MirandaFloyd what I do as normal practice to avoid these types of issues is copy the whole \mas90 folder over from the source server into a location on the new server. That becomes the new Pre-Migration and Parallel Migration source. If you need to start up that version you just copied over, you can do so by running it MAS 90 style (browse to ..\mas90\home run pvxwin32.exe then at prompt type RUN ""STARTUP.M4P"" ).

Make sure that the Sage 100 service account on the new server is a domain user and has rights to the old server; both through the share and through the directories. Remember there are two levels of security; share-level security and NTFS-level security. If the Sage 100 service account on the new server is a local account, it won't have rights to resources on any other network resource.

Sounds like @ShawnSlavin has read the @AlnoorCassim white paper....

I can browse to an older 4.x data copy on another share and it works fine. So, maybe it is the security of the new share, checking with IT. Thank you all!

Miranda, just because you can access the files under your user account doesn't mean the service account can. If you really want to check it, log onto the workstation using the credentials of the account that you have the Sage 100 service running under and then check to make sure you can create a file in the directory of the old server.

My login credentials are the same for both servers and IT says it is a domain user with full admin rights. But, I will try that to make sure. Thanks!

@JeffSchwenk to be honest, I had not read the @AlnoorCassim Bible but I just did. Yep, we are on the same page. Mine is from experience working with servers in general and things like SQL, Exchange, FTP, and others. It is imperative in this day and age for a consultant to have a little understanding of services and service accounts. If you don't, there will be HECK to pay down the line. This is from personal experience. I have too many bite marks on the tush!

@MirandaFloyd just to be sure, we are talking about the account that the Sage 100 Advanced service is running under, correct? To make sure, are you running the Providex Server as a service or as an application? If service, on the server where the Sage 100 Providex service is running, left click start, right click on 'Computer' or the server name, choose manage, on the left, open servcies and applications, the left click on Services. Scroll down until you find the Sage 100 ERP Integration Engine (8888), Right click it and choose properties. On the Log On tab, check the account info. You will want to log in using the same credentials the service is to confirm access to the network resources. If ""Local System Account"" is set, that is your problem.

I have logged onto the workstation and can create a text file on the old server. The Integration Engine shows my admin user account. The Sage 100 service shows local account.

Sounds like the 100 service local account is the issue...

Also VERY important not to have account set to SERVICE only....
