  • 1.  Customer complaint about different font size when moving 2016 to 2023.1

    I had an upgrade yesterday where the customer complained significantly about the font style/size on the 2023 GL DETAIL REPORT. They also found that the Standard Financials printed in a slightly different type style which caused their balance sheet to print three pages with the last page showing only two lines.

    Ultimately what I did - which hopefully won't come back and bit me: 

    • Copied the GL Detail Report Condensed from old REPORTS to new
    • Copied the GL Balance Sheet and GL Financial Statement (multiple files) from the old REPORTS to new

    This seemed to work ok and the customer was relieved

    Unfortunately I have not had luck in locating a way to reduce the font size on a specific report without a lot of back and forth alignment.

    I also have a subfolder in Reports called STANDARD where I put the current copies of any standard reports I have modified, because some service updates, etc, will overwrite reports and that way I have a quick place to grab them and copy them back out.  Plus a reminder they exist when I do an upgrade.

    Bear in mind that reports will bite where they change not just because of fonts and layout. Just this week I assisted with the recovery of the support added for multiple sales orders per invoice which was lost in an upgrade where the previous form was brought forward. After a 'Verify Database' command, look for new work table fields that are unused in those previous forms!

    2016 to 2023.1 was a big leap forward.  Somewhere along the line, Sage had to add a different font so that they could accommodate report changes.  Doubtful that you can access the "Way back" machine for everything.
