Customer bills for magazine advertising -- magazine1, magazine2, magazine3 all on one invoice. Would like the resulting discounts taken by customers (who can place ads in all magazines on one invoice) to be broken out by GL. I realize that the Discount acct is driven by division. In this case the issue is that a customer in one division is advertising in all 3 magazines. Am I overlooking some feature of Sage? I know that the cash receipts would support using the GL feature to manually do this at CR time however that doesn't seem much more convenient than what they are doing now which is to re-allocate via GL at month end.

Miscellaneous line entry discounts, one for each division/magazine?

That's what I'm thinking -- I just don't see how that's any faster since someone has to pull the original invoice and analyze it to make the entry/allocation. I don't think there's an automatic way to make these differing discount postings.

I prefer the reallocate, as you don't have to repeat the process during each receipt.

Can't they do a custom report or export to generate the reallocation entry?

Therese has it. Setup specific Misc Lines when they pay the advertising invoice (which is always in advance of placement). This is conceptually mapping 1:1 to the coupon code, so it should be easy to get Sales' cooperation. Then report on the Misc Codes, even if the item no longer exists in IM (and they really must be deleted after the campaign is done, to simplify sales' lives).
