  • 1.  Custom Office scripts stopped working

    I have a client this morning, call me in a panic, because none of the custom office scripts are working.
    When I try and create a new one or even test existing one, I get the following message.

    The following script error was found...
    OLE Error Number: 0
    Description:
    Language: VBScript
    Script Line: 0
    Script Column: 0:

    I have turn on and off, allow external access. 

    Of course, per the  to client knowledge, nothing changed from yesterday to today. Without the scripts running, they can not enter any sales orders.
    The are checking anti-virus logs, but not sure what else could be happening.

    Anyone see anything like this before?

    Just noticed in the windows event viewer, the following message.

    A potentially malicious VbScript script was Blocked by policy

     

    So going back to the IT group about any group policy that may have been put in place.

    But of course "nothing was changed".  That needs to be added to the age-old list including "the check is in the mail"!

    Wow... I hope that doesn't start happening widely.  When they track down where the VBScripts are being rejected, please post details.  If it's something like MS Defender (through a Windows Update), that would be bad news.

    For those that are curious. It was the group policy that block everything. Took a while before IT would acknowledge that they did make it change the night before, but once they they did and removed it, everything went back to working greatly. Case closed.
