  • 1.  Custom Office Script ~ Script Control Object

    I just migrated a client from 2019 Advanced to 2022 SP2 Advanced. We also moved servers. 

    However, none of the custom office scripts are running on the new server.
    I am getting the following message when I check the syntax/ path on the new server.

    "The Script Control Object could not be created.
    Verify that you setup Windows Script to run Visual Basic or Java scripts in the Customizer module.
    For more information, refer to the Microsoft Download Center Web Site."

    I think something in the new server operating system is not configured, but  I can not seem to figure out what it is or where to look.
    Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.

    This is a possibility.  Install Microsoft Windows Script Host
    On page 7, item 4 of the "Post-Installation Tasks" of the installation and System Administrator's Guide:

    Alnoor,

     

    Thanks for the suggestion. I did double check the registry and it is enabled (1).

     

    I also called, Sage, but they were no help and gave me the standard line of we can not help with custom office scripting. I am stuck at the moment, as no custom office scripts run.

    If you double-click a .vbs file on the server does it open with a program like notepad?  It could simply be broken file associations.

    Is it possible IT is blocking it on the new server?

    Have you checked to see if the cscript.exe and wscript.exe programs exist under C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64?

    Cscript.exe and wscript.exe are in C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64

     

    The file association are showing Microsoft Windows Based Script Host

     

    With it being a new server, IT actually does not have antivirus turn on it yet.

     

    It feels like it has to be something on this new server not being fully configured but I cannot seem to locate the issue or missing program.

    Create a simple file with the .vbs extension and just put MsgBox "Test" in it and try to execute it.

    We finally got this resolved.

    It turns out that tcs*.dll file(s) was not properly registered.

     

    Found it after running the ..\sage\Common Components\RegCom64.bat file.
