Currently working on a conversion from 2013 to 2017. Expected to go live in two weeks. This user has about 50 backup companies. They back up the two live companies every year and make a payroll backup. During the data conversion there is a question pertaining to creating purchase order history. I would be interested to know if others create purchase order history for the backup companies.

So have they really need to copy the back up companies. Seems like a good to sit down and develop a workable backup strategy. When is the last time they accessed the very old backup company. Leave the old stuff in v2013 so they can access it in the off chance they REALLY need to. Time to clean out the closet. But I digress..... What was your question?? PO history?? Who cares about the back up companies. They didn't have it then, they don't need it now. It is a backup company. Create PO history for the current live companies and don't bother with the old. I guess you can tell how I feel about backups and history files. But if you are billing them by the hour, of course insist on creating them.

I am going to ask them to review and see what they want to bring forward. There are backups from 2003. LOL.

I do not create PO history in payroll backup companies. I believe there is an option to create it later should you need it.

I do not choose to create the PO history. My thinking is that they did not have it before and would not miss it but would have it from now on Sent from my cell phone. Please forgive any misspellings.

Good question, however if you are going to check the 'convert all companies' checkbox, do you have an option to pick/choose which companies to create the PO History in? I don't think so. Does this mean you all are converting 1 company at a time? Or maybe I'm forgetting where the Create PO History comes in during conversion.

I always turn on the flag ""retain po history"". But not the flag to create the PO history. I train them on the benefits and then we do it in each company, after they go live with the new version.

I don't convert backup/test companies unless they've specifically asked for them and been quoted a price. The last thing I want to do is DFDM 50 companies in the case where there is some obscure data issue -- unless the user has paid for that service.
