Maybe a less than intelligent question - When upgrading ADV to new version, is it required to set up a new ODBC service to run the pvxiosvr.exe from the newer Sage install or can you keep using the prior version in a different folder?

    Asking for a friend...

As far as I know you need the C/S ODBC to run off the proper Sage 100 instance, so I recommend re-creating the Service.  It doesn't look to be easily editable, unless maybe via regedit.

I usually delete the old service from the command line and create a new service.  I was just wondering as it has been a few days since the migration and no one has notified me of issues.

Best to open an elevated command prompt, then run the following commands.

    SC STOP PVXIOSVR
    SC DELETE PVXIOSVR
    "[path to new Sage 100 installation's Home directory]\pvxiosvr.exe" -i

A proper path should look something like this.

    SC STOP PVXIOSVR
    SC DELETE PVXIOSVR
    "C:\Sage\Sage 100 Advanced 2022\MAS90\Home\pvxiosvr.exe" -i

I always delete and re-create the service.  It is quick to do, and is the safest strategy.

We regedit and update the path, but delete and recreate the service does the same thing
