  • 1.  Crystal Reports Custom Menu Error - invalid argument for database

    Posted 04-01-2026 13:07

I have a Crystal Report that was created that pulls data from JC_Jobhistory and JobHistoryTransDetail.

The Report runs outside of Sage V2025 SP1 64bit. (Opening in Crystal Reports V2020 and refresh the data)

I have added it to the Job Cost Custom Menu. However, I am getting the following Crystal Report Windows Forms Viewer:

    Error in File:  XXXX_Custom

    Invalid argument for database:

The saved data is not checked.

I have been able to verify the database with no issues.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Michael

Make sure the report doesn't use a DSN.  (Those don't work unless the workstation has that named DSN).

File - Summary Info... remove the Keywords, then let Sage convert the report, which might fix the data source.

    Good idea,

After removing the keywords and letting Sage convert the report, I am getting database connector error.

Also, I am using the SOTAMAS90 Driver

    Advanced with CS-ODBC?

    Company code has JC activated?

    Sage ODBC permissions enabled?

    Kevin,

They are on Standard Version, so not CS-ODBC driver

I did turn on the ODBC permissions for this company, but same error when converting (Database Connector Error)

    Thank you

Remove / repair the Crystal Reports runtime.  Run the workstation autorun.exe to make sure you aren't missing any pre-req's.

    ok. I got it work.

I ended up shortening the custom report name and it converted this time.

    Thank you to everyone.

So if you put the Summary back in with the NEW version (so Sage does NOT try to convert the report) - does it run? Or was that how it was in the first place?
