Could airlines get any worse? Now there is a class below economy. I think they strap you onto the wing. I predict sometime soon it will cost money to select your own seat. They may make it so that you pay for early seat selection and for free you can select a seat when you check in the day before. The middle seat will probably still be no cost to reserve.

Unfortunately the way these mergers have occured, you are almost locked into airlines. If you live near Newark Airport in NJ, you are basically taking United if you want a prayer of a direct flight
