Copied this from the Home group. 4.5 PU3 - reading through the release notes. Item 4 under Inventory: ""The IM Average Cost Utility has been enhanced. Please refer to on line Help for detailed information"". Ok, I may have a serious blank spot where a memory used to be, but I don't see any Average Cost Utility. I also can't find help on this in MAS. Does anyone know what this is about?

It was another utility that they hadn't released and you had to call them to get. So in other words, you needed to know you needed it before you could know about it it wasn't even published in the kb if I remember correctly. Chances are if you have anyone on 4.40 or 4.5 and use average cost valuation, they have a problem. It is under the *utl and is called Balance Quantity and Cost for Average Cost Items.

When you get to the box where it asks for company code in the utiltity, you can see the help information in the question mark

Hmmm, I guess you must still have to get it from Sage, cuz I can't find the programs in my 4.5.3 system. Nice to mention it in the release notes, but not include it in the PU.

You don't see it under File/Run/*utl?

You may need to copy it from the \mas90\utility into the module folder.

@RobertaFerguson - no, but I did find it when I did File/Run/syzcon after @MoiraGoggin's advice to copy it into the IM folder. Then I tried File/Run/*utl, this time spelling *utl correctly, and it came up. Going home now. Thanks!

@RobertaFerguson - I hate these ethical dilemmas. I have client on v4.4.4 running nearly 100% average cost. Am I obligated (under the Reseller code of honor) to alert them to Sage's mess or do I follow Sage's lead and keep my head buried in the sand until client contact mesS (if they even notice the issue)?

I would approach them and just say that you want to run the utility in a test company and see if it makes a difference. Maybe they are fine but the last thing you want is to not tell them and have them realize there's a problem down the road and that you didn't tell them there was an issue - then you look like the incompetent one. I thought everyone should have been warned about the dtr double posting issue. If it were me I would be frustrated there are software problems but I would be angry if I knew someone just didn't tell me I could have a problem. I have time later and will jog my memory about what to look for in their data. I'm not awake yet!

I vote with Roberta on this one too. Being proactive shows the client you're the best support avenue.

Does anyone know if you can use this utility on 4.4 PU 7 and if so, how would I add it to *Utl?

Yes, you can run it - you don't add it to *utl, you have to run it through syzcon. I attached the original instructions I got from them above. It tells you how to run it.
