Continuing to see problems with Sage 100 ERP 2013 and electronic delivery of Payroll Direct Deposit stubs. This likely also carries over to any other area with large volume of electronic delivery. Symptoms: 1. System appears to work fine (and will complete on some occasions ) 2. After 45+ minutes of working away the error: Printer not activated error code -30 followed by Crystal Print Error - Unable to print PRWFXAA.RPT. The device is not ready. Since this is such a time consuming issue to diagnose I'm halting upgrades for any customer using paperless office electronic delivery until Sage is able to provide an update. Chris Powers at Sage is allegedly researching.

So there's no fix or workaround?

the problem appears sporadic. So far as I can tell it's limited to large volumes of electronic delivery. Symptoms include longer delivery times and in some cases (but not all) the above referenced error messages. The issue is that the messages in my case do not appear until at least 45 minutes into generating direct deposit stubs. Try rebooting. Takes another 45 minutes to test. Before you know it the deadline to upload your direct deposit file has passed..... I've asked Sage for an update on their research. BTW - Sage support times appear to be sky high. My guess is that the times are high only for Sage partners but that's just a cynical guess.

Just ran into this issue today. Existing v2013 installation. Paperless PR ran great until today. This exact issue popped up. Failed from two workstations. Ran fine from the server. Only 13 PR checks. Timed out within a minute.... Uninstalled reinstall pdf converter. Changed port and security settings. Nada.

I keep the customer on the line with me so they can see the bullshit Sage puts us through. I think it's important they know the time it takes for Sage to respond and exactly how Sage responds.

And a big thanks to Sage for updating me on originally reporting this issue: </sarcasm> Wayne, It appears we had a break through last week but we are waiting to hear back from Microsoft. A developer logged into Sue Bennett's system and set the Windows default printer to 'Microsoft XPS Document Writer' and this made a significant improvement to the performance. I was told we have a case with Microsoft and we are waiting to hear about a hotfix but I am waiting for details so I can post something to the knowledgebase. Sue also contacted her most heavily affected customer and this workaround resulted in improved performance for them as well. o She told me on 8/7/2014 she would post back to the thread but I don't think she has had the opportunity to do that yet. Additional suggestion: Open the Check Stub form in the Crystal Designer Sage 100 | Payroll | Main Check Printing | Direct Deposit Stubs |Form Crystal Reports Designer | File | Page Setup | Printer Options| Set the Printer = Sage PDF Converter | Page Options ""Dissociate Formatting and Page Size and Printer Paper Size"" = Checked OK Save Report and Exit This change will eliminate the Crystal call to retrieve the printer information.

    Did that do the trick?

After 1 hour and two minutes it appears to have worked. However this has been an on and off error condition and I'm not 100% confident that we've permanently resolved the issue. Also changing the default printer to XPS is hardly a resolution since the user must remember to manually select the regular printer when they go to print registers or they get error messages. I'm going to chat with Sage in a few. If I hear any more than ""we feel your pain and/or it's Microsoft's fault"" I will update.

I'm tagging onto this thread because I have been intermittently experienced error 30's when printing SO invoices to PDF on version 2014 and it's frustrating that these ""random"" errors occur because of course it doesn't happen on every invoice. The error occurred with 2 different invoice forms, and I FINALLY figured out the cause of my error 30's: certain subreports. It was all very circumstantial - for instance, on each of the forms only one of the subreports was the culprit. One one form I was able to eliminate the subreport and make a direct link to the needed table, and the other one I had to take a different approach on what file to make the subreport. They are on the ""improved"" amunyi driver but I don't know what the future holds for that crappy driver. Hopefully no more error 30's - but ya never know.

@WayneSchulz think this will work for a 2015 install. Client has reported long times to send stubs through paperless, has not gotten those errors, just looking for ways to send out faster. Takes several hours - Additional suggestion: Open the Check Stub form in the Crystal Designer Sage 100 | Payroll | Main Check Printing | Direct Deposit Stubs |Form Crystal Reports Designer | File | Page Setup | Printer Options| Set the Printer = Sage PDF Converter | Page Options ""Dissociate Formatting and Page Size and Printer Paper Size"" = Checked OK Save Report and Exit This change will eliminate the Crystal call to retrieve the printer information.

@KellySappington my same client has 250+ DD stubs to generate every week; I activated the C/S ODBC driver and it cut down the time from 45 minutes to 10 minutes. Those dang DD stubs are the worst - I recommend you try the C/S ODBC driver approach.
