  • 1.  Considering Acumatica

I have been working with Sage 100 for a number of years but am considering branching out. I have heard and read many good things about Acumatica, but I am curious of others' experiences with Acumatica or other ERPs. In particular, would be curious to learn how other ERPs are handling job- or site-based costing.

    Sarah,

I don't have feedback to share on Acumatica - I probably hear similar things. However, my core belief about publishers is that down deep they are all very similar. What I mean by that is that they are all profit motivated and eventually will implement similar policies in terms of tier and margin, etc.

My advice is  - seek out a way to build a recurring revenue stream ( which is not hourly or commission based).  Consultants who have the most success are those who specialize in a niche rather than try to do "onesies and twosies" in many different industries. Also, follow the business strategy of the publisher. There are no publishers where a subscription or maintenance isn't required (usually annually). Even QuickBooks requires that their users upgrade every 3 years. There's no reason a customer shouldn't be required to pay an annual feel for access to your services.
