One tip I completely forgot to share and that I've found the most useful over the years. Whenever practical have a roommate during the conference. It's a great way to compare notes at the end of the day and saves you at least 50% off the hotel cost. I started doing this with Myron way back in the Palm Springs days and ever since I try to room with someone that I know for each conference. Almost every hotel books you into a room with two beds and in the event they don't just flip a coin for the couch (which was the most comfortable sleep ever when I lost to Robert in Atlanta one year during ITA).
